Beautiful song by Ralph McTell (it starts five mins in) called The Ferryman, based on the book Siddhartha by Herman Hesse about a man's journey through life. Worth a read in itself.

Even better than the live performance is the record version with superb strings.

A buggeration end to the day.  We live halfway up a mountain and rely on a pump to get water the last 200 ft to our house and the pump has died.  Just what you want when your daughter is planning to visit for the weekend.  Water water everywhere - except in our house.

Hopefully Haydn our water engineer will come to the rescue today.  Managing without or with very little water was one of the first reasons why I took out a subscription to Water Aid years ago.
