whisty
Nice Gabby Young, shame they're not at G. Hi Carlos, plenty of room for my troop then, I'll bring the Champers Trying to keep with Festival bands at the mo so Angel. Still wondering if getting depressed on the last night is a good thing or not!
grumpyhack
Sorry not a festival band but a great song. Done by many people often with big orchestration but this is the guy who wrote it performing in a much more low key way. (And there's a sort of Glasto connection in that it was partly inspired by Ruby Tuesday, written by Keith Richards, who did headline last year). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1YrIr7eo8M And for good measure one of my favourites, PP Arnold giving it a go. I'm sure you know but she started her performing career as an Ikette (one of the backing singers with Ike and Tina Turner. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BxVDztIy86U So the link word is Morning Edited June 3, 2014 by grumpyhack
whisty
Remember the PP Arnold song & for me I love the historical nuggets you put on things, shame is I'll probably forget it by this afternoon! Google is my friend, my poor memory a frustration. Broken Boy Soldiers. Still can't decide whether I like his vocal style or not but he does have an energy and individuality that kind of demands attention for me. Not sure whether anybody saw the documentary, It Might Get Loud http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1229360/ with Jimmy Page, The Edge & Jack White getting together and explaining how they came about their own individual styles, good stuff. Made me like Jack White a little bit more. Edited June 4, 2014 by whisty

carlosj
My brain won't work in finding someone who's playing this year, unless I'm lucky, but I'll avoid Simple Minds and move to Tom instead (hey, he could be in the Rabbit Hole this time?) Taking this to SWIMMING (as my favourite line is 'she thought she could stand up in the deep end') Raymond Chandler set to music.
whisty
Self imposed, not expecting anybody else to place restrictions on posts, it's time consuming enough Prob last post for couple days, work getting in way. Follows Beth Orton at Avalon. The more I look at the line up the more I'm getting confused over who to see! grumpyhack
I admire your self imposed but it's too much for my brain at the moment. So I'll settle for the sadly departed Fontella Bass and Rescue Me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oSjZh2D7CE There is a nice story to go with this song. Fontella Bass was struggling with her life when she heard the original version of "Rescue Me" being used in a TV advertising campaign by American Express. The moment gave her the inspiration to set her life in order. She also queried the commercial use of her original recording of the song which ended with American Express and its advertising agency awarding her $50,000 plus punitive damages. This is from Woodstock but only because I couldn't find their Glastonbury version many years on which still remains one of my Glasto moments. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m7AHblQ3_oM

grumpyhack
A convoluted link here. The Croissant Neuf Stage is wholly run on solar power. One act worth catching there is Mad Dog Mcrea (previously played Avalon). This is the band, asking the great Glasto question: "Am I drinking enough?" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikVyCtbtwe4 So the link word is Solar
carlosj
Never knew Croissant Neuf was solar powered. I've been neglecting my duties here, my work life balance is all wrong!
