Excuse me playing with myself - but I couldn't resist Neil Young at Glasto destroying his guitar as he does The Beatles' Day in The LIFE.

(The thousand holes in Blackburn Lancashire comes at about 4 mins)

Bugger - beaten to a response by Brandycoke. So a quick edit and re-think.

SWEET

Like many I have to confess to having the hots for Ms Lennox in her day. What a confident performer.

Honey I NEED

The Pretty Things still going strong after fifty years.

Then........

And now.....

I'd still go and see them for old time's sake.

My niece had a little girl who twigged early on that instead of saying: "I want....." she would say: "But I need........" and it was hard to resist.

Spock

In memory of a brilliant character and distinctive actor. This tune suggests a deep need for Captain Kirk to find Spock. There are newer live ones but this one is the one.

Probably my favourite episode where Spock has an epic fail in logic :)

I'm afraid no video for this song by Harry Chapin (one of my favourite singer songwriters and sadly a Grumpy Gonner) but enjoy the song which was written to his wife after a long tour away.

ALONE

One of my favourite Glastonbury sets, featuring Grumpy Gonner Arthur Lee to keep the thread bumping along.

Love blended beautiful arrangements with solid rock so well

One for the road Grumpy. Thundercat (cracking Bass player) has a track Return to the Journey, can't find live, this will do the trick I'm sure. Have a great time in Vietnam.

Was going to go for Granny Takes a Trip but thought I'd go for a bit of Classic Dr John (aka The Night tripper). Still touring at the age of 74. All his London gigs this month at Ronnie Scott's are sold out and, unfortunately I'll be away for the Bristol gig.

Worth catching the boogie woogie piano master if you can.

AUTUMN

My last contribution for a fortnight. Sorry it's not a true performance video and a bit crackly but a great collection of Gonners who might remind people that the Small Faces could do subtle and gentle as well as pure pop.

Or you could have a bit of WINTER
