I saw Pitney a couple of years before and was really impressed with his humility and preparedness to engage and spend time with his fans. He said from the stage: "I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for you" and you sensed that he meant it.

Be warned performers - play Cardiff and die. One of my most powerful musical memories was chatting to Tim Rose after a gig in Cardiff that turned out to be his last performance as he died about ten days later.

No mud at Cheltenham - just a howling gale with a wind chill factor that really made it feel cold. Wish I'd taken my thermals but was really glad to get back to the caravan and put the gas fire on.

Hah, I spent a lot of time fitting him in last year as Carlos will testify, great when the power went off, came off stage, stood at the barrier, handed out his percussion bits for the small crowd to help him along, magic moment. Also made him my Xmas concert treat. So he's had enough of my attention for now If I'm passing his way tho.

On a Marlena Shaw album, the Spice of Life but this is the original of such a lovely tune.

As an aside Mr Ghack, did you see Tommy Emmanuel is playing . I know you posted a few vids over the time here.

Yes Whisty very pleased to see Tommy Emmanuel has a slot. I'd recommend him highly. Will be one of my must-sees.
