@academicPistol, have you head Munky from KoRns new side project band? called 'Fear and the Nervous system'? its a band made up of other band members including Munky from KoRn with Steve Krolikowski from Repeater singin, its Alt Metal so you might like it, as it reminds me of tool (would be killer if it had maynards vocals on it!!...

If Bullet play this year in 2nd stage headliner position or sub, they will never headline main stage, that's why I think they will do an arena tour instead of festivals, can see Axewound being pushed next year though.

Alter Bridge aren't big enough to sub yet, but depends how their new album does whenever it comes out, can see them headlining 2nd stage.

Stone Sour are playing on the Saturday apparently, I would imagine 3rd from top on Main.

Download definately needs to get some bands like Alice in Chains, Cypress Hill, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age, Slayer, Gallows, Killing Joke, Blood Red Shoes, Placebo, Gary Numan, Twin Atlantic, Funeral For A Friend, Sepultura, Less Than Jake, Brand New, Jimmy Eat World, Serj Tankian, Scars on Broadway, Taking Back Sunday etc.. Yknow bands that fit the dynamic but haven't played for a while/have never played. Just to change up the lineup a bit as sometimes it can all be a bit predictable.

I'd also like to see Alice in Chains back in the fold, I would also like to see Jane's Addiction at Download, not sure if they've played there before?

And if Myles Kennedy is going to be at Download with Alter Bridge, maybe Velvet Revolver w/Slash & Corey (there was a rumour a while back that Corey could fill in the lead singer position)? Slipknot Friday, Stone Sour Saturday and Velvet Revolver on Sunday. That would be awesome.

So Andy has done a blog on the 2013 fest, says new announcement is soon just been to US to confirm a couple of acts that'll be in next announcement, says they'll announce as much as they can before xmas.

Talks about the headliners, says Iron Maiden came to him ages ago.

Talks Pearl Jam, says they were in negotations to play but their touring schedule doesn't match up so they couldn't play, but Andy himself had held a meeting with the sponsors telling them who were booked and who were in talks to play, and thats why Voda thought Pearl Jam were playing so it was close, and clearly Slipknot were booked closer to their announcement than thought.

What this means is it seems very likely Pearl Jam will be over here at some point this year.

Thing with JEW is not sure they can command a slot higher than 5th now? Especially on that day where there would be 10 on main as Sabbath won't get 2 hours, I'm not sure anyone will next year, but think that could suit them beings they gave two bands 2.5 hrs this year.

Seems Reading is sticking to 9 bands a day now... did it every day this year and every day last year. JEW will not be smaller than they were last time they played. Plus they tour rarely enough to still get a decent slot.. it does depend who else is on the day but I would argue Jimmy are bigger than any of the fifth from top bands we have had at Reading for the past few years excluding Madness who were midday as a novelty act.

if what Andy has said about the PJ 'cock-up' is true, it means that his previous statements about who he'd booked as headliners weren't true.

And yet, what he'd said a very long time before the announcement about who he'd booked as headliners proved to be true ... so that would have to be one hell of a coincidence that the band he booked instead of PJ also had someone who'd played at the 2012 festival.

There's a little food for thought there. Whichever way it pans out AC has been telling porkies, it's now your job to work out which of the two was the porkies. :P:lol:

My money stays exactly where it's always been on this one.

My own thoughts are that he was hopeful of landing PJ, as he had said he'd be announcing all 3 headers together, back tracked on that and said only 1 to start with. PJ didn't go how he planned which pissed him off, made some more bull up and got Slipknot as the easy fix to it late as Corey loves it and he had Stone Sour anyway.

that doesn't fit the facts of everything he'd said. He said ages ago that he'd booked all three headliners, and there's not a chance in hell that the convo he had with Vodaphone was back before he'd said he'd booked all three headliners.

Does not compute.

There's a bunch of porkies within all of AC's words about next year. The only thing which isn't clear is which are the porkies and which are not - if that part were to become clear then why the porkies were told is likely to become clear too.

Or we can just wait to see who Soni announce.
