Gnomicide
I can hear it, I've got Absolute on. Different when you're there though isn't it? I've seen some stuff that looked awful on tv but people who were there loved it. My cousin's there tonight, it'll be interesting to get her view when she's home. dan05delaney
and no Richie isn't there, there was a falling out before the tour and he hasn't toured for "personal reasons" there has been some mud slinging through the press and ended with Richie saying "well if you love the edge that much why don't you replace me with him" they actually have 2 different guitarist in his place playing the solos etc.... acutally makes you understand how much of a good musician Richie is yeah they are good for a sing along at least if your there, everyone seems a lot more into it now they are playing the big songs instead of new album tracks
Gnomicide
Apart from his guitar work, they are clearly missing Ritchie's vocals. He always was as good as or if not a better singer than JBJ.

That is very true, a few songs were missing his additional power in his vocals
CaledonianGonzo
From Popbitch:Rumour at Glastonbury is that the Stones' stage has something built into it to do projections. Brian Jones maybe? Right. Though I'd take a hologrammatic Nicky Hopkins.

monkey1989
Honky Tonk Women from last night. Complete Stones panto but it sounds pretty decent http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGD3rC-ZUgY As does Satisfaction, minus the dud start. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KVasBV0Q_7g Really really good
CaledonianGonzo
But thanks to gonzo with his setlists and links to recent performances, I think it's going to be bloody ace! Therefore you have a scapegoat if they're shite! It'll all be Gonzo's fault Oi! I guarantee nothing!

CaledonianGonzo
the greatest rock n roll band in the world..?? turgid shit Though in this instance making a passable stab at some smooth Philly Soul sounds. In this instance that's a passable stab at an excellent tune that they almost never play live, but if the studio version does nothing for you in the first instance than even a blinding version of it's likely to leave you unimpressed. Edit: Three uses of the word 'instance'? Good lord I'm tired. Edited June 17, 2013 by CaledonianGonzo
MichaelsBeard
Have the BBC announced viewing times for the Saturday yet? Give us an idea of how much of their set will be shown. Not that I'm bothered. I'll be there front, centre. *Also, saw Primal Scream before Stone Roses in Glasgow on Saturday. They're gonna be a great warmup. Presumably the same set. Mardy
Jesus that fucking crowd on The Nal's link to 'Honkey Tonk Women, unbelieveable Jagger's right over in front them, presumably in their very expensive seats. There's absolutely no discernable excitement there at all, and at one point a bloke in the front row maybe 6 feet away from Jagger's prancing, turn and wanders out, up the aisle. Fucking hell. Astonishingly bad. I'm hoping they get fed from all the tangible vibes at the Pyramid. it's easy to be a bit too cool for school and slag the Pyramid, but there's got to be more of a buzz playing there than in the Buttfuck Enormodome wth that kind of crowd. CaledonianGonzo
Actually, I wasn't that impressed with Primal Scream on Saturday. Though it didn't help it was possibly the quietest set I've ever heard by any band anywhere. They were drowned out by the uproar of the butterflies in the adjoining meadows. Mardy
And every other fecker was filming it on their cameras Inevitable part of modern gig going, unfortunately. Nearly got into a ruck over it at the Pet Shop Boys a fortnight ago. Getting old is shit, but I;'m fucking delighted that most of my gig going took place before cameraphones etc.

Hmmm, I was in the state the majority of Primals music was intended for mind. Won't be next Saturday (how good does it feel to now be able to say 'next week' after the 2 year gap by the way?!). Want to keep a clear head for The Stones.

Guy was waving an ipad constantly near us a Springsteen Saturday and took serious grief from those behind him till he had to put it away. CaledonianGonzo
well, I never 'got' the Philly Soul thing. Always sounded as far away from Soul as one could get.. and a passable stab at an insipid genre is never going to mean much to me (as you pointed out). It really is a shit song though, anyway. Excellent tune... ? Oh aye - I love Memory Motel. Best thing on Black & Blue by a country mile, if that's not damning it with faint praise. Neverthless, it's one of my absolute favourites. Largely academic at this point though - there's zero to no chance of it appearing next weekend. They probably only wheeled it out the other day as it mentions Boston in the lyrics. THe Pyramid can be shit but when it comes together for a headliner atmosphere-wise e.g. Radiohead 2003, Blur 2009, Stevie 2010 it's an incredible place to watch a gig. I think the Stones might enjoy it.
CaledonianGonzo
the only song I ever play off Black & Blue is Crazy Mama. The whole album is like a joke/parody of something.... not sure what though It's a patchy mess alright and probably too mellow for its own good, but I still kinda like it. There's no tracks on it I actively dislike and even if I don't really play that often. what's happening next weekend? Next weekend as opposed to this weekend! tevaburger
oh... that 'is next weekend the next one or the one after it' thing but if you meant 'next' weekend as in the 'next' one to come up...i'd reply to you - as a iknow you're a fellow fan - "why...Wilco...at their solid sound festival"... tevaburger
bloody hell. 90 minute gap btw end of Primal Scream and the Stones! way too much to miss going around on-site, by getting in front of the barrier from Elvis onwards to ensure a good spot. may just catch 60 mins of Steve Winwood and just hope for any spot in the field from 915pm
Al2006
yeah! i have better things to do on my saturday night than stand up for 1hr 30 in front of nothing!.. i'll get there about 30 mins before i reckon
mrtourette
I always get into this argument with my better half. For me the Friday coming up would be 'this Friday' and the following one 'next Friday', although I am well aware I'm in the minority. He argument is always 'it's the next Friday, which is why it's called next Friday', which I can't really argue with.
