Wooderson
Sorry for another shameless thread hijack. Wooderson mate, what did you make of Zitadelle Spandau? Good/bad/#prayforMegabowl? Kick ass venue. Humid as a MF tho.
Ratpat
Kick ass venue. Humid as a MF tho. The only bad thing about it is the entrance afaik, as it was a military defense, there's just one big gate to enter/leave- after the German Loveparade disaster in 2010 they were discussing, that the Zitadelle is one of the most dangerous venues, but still one of the greatest at the same time though *Sorry for the off-topic*
CaledonianGonzo
The Proclaimers over Rodriguez or Johnny Marr? My faith in this thread has now diminished Gonzo. Listen up everyone, despite what Gonzo thinks, The Stones are gonna be shit! The Park is maybe too far away for me to feel comfortable if I start getting itchy feet about getting down in front of the Pyramid. Rodriguez maybe also a shade relaxed for that point in the evening. Johnny Marr, I dunno. Severely underwhelmed by anything I've seen of him recently. However, The Proclaimers and the Stones share a producer, and Chuck Leavell's played with them, so you never know, there might be a special guest:

Wooderson
The courtyard where the gigs are held certainly has an atmosphere. Who you going to see?
Comfy Bean
So for talking`s sake the Stones had signed for Glastonbury before Christmas. Would this be a practice run for how they will appear on the Pyramid ? 100`s of drummers then into Get off of my cloud. Big lead in, fire breathing bird type thing, fireworks, video screens going crazy with back clips and crowd going mental and electric atmosphere. BBC would love it with the world watching and the front pages are sorted......

Assuming we make it, not due to arrive at Schoenefeld until 5pm, it should be great
Zoo Music Girl
This big gap between Scream and Stones is annoying. I'm sure it's just to avoid crowd churn but what the hell are we supposed to do for 90 minutes? Other than get so pissed I can't remember The Stones? Perhaps that will help... I'm not really a Scream fan but was going there to get a spot. Now not so sure.
The Nal
you don't know what to do for an hour and a half...? go to the loo, have a drink, get something to eat, have a chat with whoever is next to you... if you don't want to see Primal Scream, then get there later.. no? I don't think it's anything to do with avoiding crowd churn, and more to do with The Stones wanting that long to get the stage ready More time for me to get into the pit so I'm happy with the delay. Anyway same ish setlist from last night. They did Dead Flowers which is a good thing. Edited June 19, 2013 by The Nal
neil999
seems like they only changing a few songs each setlist then, mainly after gimme shelter...SURELY they will play street fighting man?!

Was more getting at the fact that it will be a long wait between bands with the potential for the atmosphere to get a bit flat. I'll be there for Costello so was just going to stick around. Not so sure now.

Nal you have done a complete 180 from 6 months ago - exactly the same as me Up until they started this US tour I thought Glastonbury was going to be a train wreck, but the more I see from recent gigs on youtube the more I believe its going to be a night to remember (For all the right reasons) Edited June 19, 2013 by Mud Dweller

Think it could be a great one. Setlist is solid, the majority of songs sound pretty good and they seem to actually care that they're playing too. They might even "get" Glastonbury! Thats half the battle.
neil999
I really hope so! yep, im trying to work out if they change setlist to suit audience or not...surely they must recognise that would go down well at glastonbury!
Zoo Music Girl
yep, im trying to work out if they change setlist to suit audience or not...surely they must recognise that would go down well at glastonbury! Someone suggested it might get an airing at Hyde Park since that's where they first played it. So it would make sense to do it Glastonbury too. I'm expecting similar sets between the two - but could be wrong!
The Nal
From this thread, there are people who want all the shit ballads more than anything. Like the superb Angie? Or Dead Flowers? Here it is from last night. Dunno who Brad Paisley is mind you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oT71nLEMH00 And Sympathy for the Devil sounds pretty sweet! FloorFiller
it's really just a case of will they recognise the Glastonbury crowd is different than their usual and fill that three-song space with three 'hits' / well known songs or will the Glastonbury crowd being different not even factor in to them and they'll just play whatever the hell they want on the night they haven't played anything massively obscure but obviously songs like Street Fighting Man, Wild Horses, Bitch, Angie, Rocks Off would probably go down a lot better than some others they've been playing
The Nal
that's not one of the worst, and if Mick Taylor joined them for it, I might not be too disappointed. I think if they did a set heavy with Fool To Cry, Memory Motel, Ruby Tuesday, Emotional Rescue, etc etc, some punters would be thrilled I'd like Ruby Tuesday but the rest is pooh yeah. Listening to that version of Sympathy for the evil I posted, I'm so happy. Its loud, so nearer to the real sound of being at the gig as opposed to the real clean and distant recordings of some of the other stuff. So much better than the vacuous versions of the last few tours. Is it just me or does Mick sound as good as he has for years? Dirty. Trebor
Might have some news on how much TV coverage the Stones will be getting tonight when the BBC send their billings in to work. In other news, and this isn't exactly earth shattering to you Stones fans on here, but my God, Their Satanic Majesties Request is bad isn't it? Finally got round to hearing it, only decent ones are She's A Rainbow and 2000 Light Years From Home, which I already knew.

Get in! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELKjxLZb9X8 Alright Ive mostly steered clear of posting in this thread, I am a big Stones fan and have been to see them on each tour since 1990 (to young before that). Ive avoided it mostly as I didn't want to get drawn in to the negativity early on. Ive been keeping a close eye on the US set lists and watching a lot of the fan footage and in my opinion they really look on top form, really good form. Cheers for sharing the Sympathy clip, that sounds particulay good. Great to see Keith playing what hes playing well. The last couple of tours have been "tricky" with Keith in my view. What he is playing now he is playing well and seems to have his swagger back. Only my opinion of course. I really do think they are going to nail it. Not a big tune and not one of the more obvious tunes but Ive never seen them play Waiting on a Friend, hoping that might happen but if its going to I might have better luck in Hyde Park the following week.
