What was the sound for JJF like near the middle to front? We were in the creche at the back with the buggies etc and it was God awful. As soon as they kicked off I turned to the Mrs and went "oh no, this aint good". Saw it on the Beeb when I got home and the broadcast of JJF seemed very poor for the start also......

What say you who were in the middle of it? Sound issues noticeable? Too much singing along and dancing to notice?

No problem underneath the speakers in the middle to the left of the mixing deck!

Right, i am not going to bother reading all the past pages. My experience of the gig? Once all of the barging was over and people settled down the gig started. BAM! the first four songs, amazing really kicked it off. Then went into a lull for a bit. Paint it Black was superb. My mate had been drinking too much wine and didn't like the cinemagraphic way the screens were showing the gig, and didn't stop letting me know about it, we were all laughing at him. He wanted it warts and all! My brother couldn't hold his bladder anymore and left half was never to return, we camped in kidney mead and so he went back to the tent to listen. About and hour and a half in i had a similar fate. I stood at the back on the hill for a while and then joined my brother back at the tent for a drink. The others stayed there, my mate was doing the int the cup on the floor thing,i couldn't bring myself to do it. I though the pre 80's stuff was excellent but lost interest when i didn't know some. i really didn't like them turning off the screens between songs and it mad it rather bitty, the Gorillas got slated for that in 2010. The bird thing was a total flop IMO, watched it from the back. All in all i though it reached amazing heights at about 60% of the time and left me felling i wanted more for the rest of the time.

I haven't read through this but here's my 2p worth. I'm not a Stones fan to be honest, I know a few of the big songs and do like them but don't call myself a fan as I can't. However, it's been the partners life mission to watch them so we did. We rocked up at 9.20 and got a good spot to the right of the stage near (ish) to the front. We moved twice due to people pissing around and having no interest in what was happening. We found a good spot but infront of us there was a group of lads in front of us who didn't know one word to any song and spent the whole time doing poppers and gas facing the wrong way (literally imagine chain smoking proportions). I really enjoyed the first half of their set where it hit a lull- when it hit this lull, people around us (mainly the people who were there to be seen and some girl in a "who the fuck is Mick Jagger t-shirt) left which caused a bit of a surge and meant we couldn't enjoy part of the set. However, the end of the set was really good and they clawed it back. I also think he sounded really good and put on a good show although the constant "yeh, yeh" was slightly annoying and he could have done a bit more to engage us differently. I would like to watch them again (my partner is on Saturday with his Dad to make his dream come true!) in a crowd of people that wanted to watch them, not just been seen on tv and watching the footage back, it clearly shows this.

Anyone going to either Hyde Park gig? I'm hoping to linger around the park and pick up a cheap(er) ticket late in the evening! I know it won't compare to last weekend, but hey, it's the Stones!

I'm going on Saturday! Can't wait. Good luck in getting a ticket as I don't think it will be much cheaper...

CaledonianGonzo - am I right in thinking you have to vote via an app?

Thanks - not holding my breathe too much, looks like a nice day so just going to head up to the park and enjoy the sunshine and a few cans if a ticket comes up I'll take it otherwise will just wait for next weekend!

Yeah you can vote via the app, or for the American gigs you could vote through their website

I didn't know the Beeb broadcast JJF? I thought their coverage started with Miss You?

For whatever reason the stones brought their own screens. The screens that where off where the ones that are normally there but after Primal Scream a second set where hoisted up and used by the stones.

Thanks Mac. That explains it. Just been watching it back and it all makes sense ( now ). TV obviously doesn`t do it justice but good to see close up how much they were enjoying it. What a night. Highlight of an amazing weekend. Hope all you lucky ones have a great time on Saturday.

"Come and see us again"

It was a joke - playing off both their exorbitant ticket prices and the wide gulf between the Glasto crowd and their usual audience.

The massive tours announced by Beady Eye and the Arctic Monkeys on the Monday morning are way more along the lines of yer actual touting for additional business.

Knowing just how much I get post Glastonbury blues I put a few gigs in place to look forward to...

As a big Stones fan I've got the bonus of seeing them again tomorrow in Hyde Park (Rocks Off on the vote for me - quite fancy "the sunshine bores the daylight out of me). I've seen them on every UK tour since 1990 and have a feeling this could well be the last time.

Next Friday I'm off to see the magnificent Band of Horses, all in all as good a post Glastonbury gig plan as I could put together.

I'll see some of you in the sun in Hyde Park tomorrow no doubt..

I don't think it was a joke at all!

but so what? loads of artists plug their wares from the stage. Nile Rodgers did it at Chic, presumably because he knew there was a big audience in the field and on telly. at the other end of the scale Molotov Jukebox asked the crowd to buy their merch.

The Stones dont need to plug any tour they do, they will shift tickets regardless. Hyde Park has proven that - look at the other gigs on there are any others sold out?

Like someone said announcing a tour 3 days later like a few others have done is far more cynical

Nothing wrong with promoting the band is there? "If this is the first time you've seen the band - do come again alright?"

Not sure what the issue is? I thought it showed they've no plans to stop. Judging by their performance why would they? They may be all in their late 60s/70s but they played like men in their 20s.

I'll probably do the same. Always find touts buy more tickets than they can get rid of for Stones, and can usually pick one up cheap closer to gig time.
