jimmyt
Just watched the set on my recorded glasto coverage, glad I legged it when I did, they were terrible. They absolutely weren't but you'll never have a valid opinion on it. Because you legged it.
Matt42
I don't see how anyone who wasn't there can give a verdict on how they were. As I've sad for the 1000th time.
eoinca
I watched a few songs. And based on the TV coverage they didn't improve much after I left.
jimmyt
I watched a few songs. And based on the TV coverage they didn't improve much after I left. Fair enough. They were still excellent, though. I watched some of the TV stuff and it looked stale; it was anything but in that field but if they're not your bag, they're not your bag. They really aren't tbh, I want to like them, my Dad is a huge fan, but even at their peak I can't say I like a lot of their stuff, but watching them on TV was uncomfortable tbh, they just looked so old and Jagger is a parody of himself at this stage. I'm sure it was great if you were there, but I'm happy with my choice to leave.
Zoo Music Girl
Those at Hyde Park are only getting 1hr45 tonight (Glasto got 2hr15), would not be a happy bunny if I'd paid a fortune for that. Although 1hr45 isn't THAT bad. Gary Clark Jr appearing with them tonight apparently. I was there last night and I think it was about 2 hours in the end. I thought it was a bloody good performance, similar set to Glastonbury with a few differences and Gary Clark Jr was the only guest (his earlier set was awesome). I have to say I preferred Glastonbury but the atmosphere, crowd and anticipation all made that one better. They still played their asses off though and I think the sound at Hyde Park has actually improved since last year - could just be where I was on the disabled viewing platform though. Zoo Music Girl
Oh and I concur that it was beyond scorchio! Even as an NFR NFCer that was a little hot for me at times. Amazed I didn't get burnt.

They played for just over 2 hours (2 hours 10 i think as they came on early for once in their lives) It was a mindblowing show last night, i absolutely loved it. I didn't think the sound was any different from any of the previous 6 visits to hyde park, i think they just had better angling of speakers and probably better wind conditions. Mud Dweller
no Wild Horses, Can You Hear Me Knocking or Happy last night as good a set list as I could have possibly hoped for at Glasto The set list we got last week was perfect. When I saw last nights I couldn't help but raise a smug smile, but im sure it was a terrific gig regardless. I would much rather of been there than casting a jealous eye from my sofa thats for sure! Field Commander Jefferson
Went there last night on a last minute thing and managed to jump the gates at the entrance and outrun security! Thought they were class again and was a top night but nowhere near glastonbury standards in terms of atmosphere, just hits home how much a crowd makes a gig/festival. Little things like those flare effects they had on stage last night, we were doing that out in the crowd last sat! You can't come close to replicating what a glastonbury crowd, on form, offers Agree with the post above though, last night was quality but on the pyramid we got the perfect setlist, unreal. Zoo Music Girl
Wild Horses! I knew they forgot something! Was hoping for some additional extras last night but sadly it was not to be. Still great though.
GeordieRaver
Anyone know whether the Glastonbury set is likely to go on their DVD! I read the Hyde Park gigs are, just wondered if Glastonbury might be on it!
CaledonianGonzo
A fun gig, but not a patch on the Glastonbury show. And definitely a little on the quiet side for my tastes.

CaledonianGonzo
Michael Hann obviously didn't hear the enormous pie that Keith made of the opening riff of Start Me Up: http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2013/jul/07/the-rolling-stones-review

Zoo Music Girl
I heard Keith fuck up that riff too! Wasn't sure if it was my imagination for a second... Oh dear.

CaledonianGonzo
I heard Keith fuck up that riff too! Wasn't sure if it was my imagination for a second... Oh dear. It looked like his scarf blew across his fretboard and got in the way of his hands :-D Not the most auspicious start to the gig and it took him a few bars to recover, but after that I thought he was in pretty decent form and there weren't too many howlers, though I think Gary Clarke Jnr. got a bit confused during Bitch. Immense versions of Gimme Shelter and the Rambler, mind. Sound wasn't bad, just could have used a bit more welly. Not as good as it could have been, but not as bad as my worst fears about the sound in Hyde Park.
ThomThomDrum
Anyone know whether the Glastonbury set is likely to go on their DVD! I read the Hyde Park gigs are, just wondered if Glastonbury might be on it! Someone said that the reason they were cutting back on the BBC footage was to accommodate for a DVD. Dont know how true this is but I suspect if they are happy with the footage they get from Glasto the will box it up and churn it out..........its the Stones. If it will sell they will sell it. CaledonianGonzo
The Hyde Park gigs are being recorded. It's possible that they may do a Four Flicks-style box set that incorporates a number of shows, but the big release from the tour will be Stones In the Park II. Though obviously with the start of Start Me Up overdubbed. Interesting thta the reviews I read of the show all pretty much said that they'd been unimpressed with the televised footage from Glastonbury but enjoyed the Hyde Park gig way more than they thought they would. mungo57
They just had a phone in on The Wright stuff asking if the Stones are past it and should retire. I say based on Glasto they are far from past it! Couldnt speak for Hyde Park as I can't afford to waste that sort of money on tickets but Glasto was great, will live with me forever Edited July 8, 2013 by mungo57
