A lot of people have been saying that but I'm not sure that Download not fitting in with their tour plans automatically means that they're in the UK at another time. They could be in another part of the world in all Summer and that's why they can't do Download, what rules them out of Download may also rule them out of R&L.

If they didn't have that system and just named a load of bands and then claimed a victory when some of them appeared then I'd agree with you, but they don't, they move bands up or down on the scale of likeliness and at the end of the day 99% of the time the three that are TBC are the three that headline.

I've seen plenty of bands mentioned on here in the past that don't end up playing at the selected festivals. For example RHCP at Sonisphere. I've also seen this site change bands to tbc after everyone and his dog already knows they are playing and a leaked poster has been in the public for a few days.

they have implied it, and yes i know its still technically early to be announcing things but the longer they go without anything being said officially it brings doubts into peoples minds. plus if download get in a great announcement before soni announces anything, people may commit to dl and give soni a miss, bringing back the problems of this year (i know its line up dependent but if they've got fuck all to announce then people won't hang around and wait for it.. EDIT: especially if money is tight and they can only afford one fest)

Download is distinctly average so far for next year though. 2 of Sonisphere's repeats from 2 years ago and another band that played Sonisphere last year.

There's loads of people moaning about Download's lineup already, claiming they will wait to see what Sonisphere and Reading have. So I don't think it's case of jumping in and buying a Download ticket for the sake of it.

make it up why don't you. Oh, you already have.

eFestivals does not claim perfection with its rumours. The very nature of rumours means we can never ever be 100% certain about anything.

Nothing of that means that we're guessing tho - we don't do guesses. Ever.

What we can know can only ever be as good as what we hear. And bear in mind that 80%+ of stuff we hear is wrong - and yet a huge part of that 80% never even makes it onto the rumours page on this website, because we don't simply accept what we hear as accurate.

I thought you said you wouldn't report that it was going to be cancelled for fear of undermining an event that might be in a perfectly healthy state?

Neil making a post on the forums is different from him running an article. He made a post on the forums saying he thought it might struggle, but he wouldn't run an article saying it was going to be cancelled until it was fully confirmed.

I made a post on the forums before even not-Queen had been confirmed, saying that if they were the headliner I expected sales to be so poor that I expected the following year's event in 2013 would be cancelled. Things were even worse than I'd thought (even tho everyone said I was waaaay off the mark), and sales were so poor that 2012 didn't go ahead (which surprised even me).

At around the time that the cancellation was announced efests heard about it the day before, and as far as I'm aware we were the first media outlet to make mention of it - tho we didn't specify which festival we were talking about, because it's not our place to undermine an event by announcing it as cancelled before the festival does it itself (after all, our info could be wrong!). But off the back of our hinting, other media outlets got on the case and before the end of the day those outlets with little regard to the damage they might be doing had named Soni as the festival that would be cancelled.

Meh. Missed them at download last year, seen Ozzy in 2011...i dunno if i'd really buy a ticket to go see them at a non-metal fest (ya i know DL ain't a metal fest) since the atmosphere will be different and prabably more shitty.

Can see Ozzfest coming back though.
