  • Savile offended at 13 hospitals, including Great Ormond Street in London, and one offence was recorded at Wheatfields Hospice in Leeds in 1977
  • His youngest victim was eight and the oldest was 47
  • The earliest allegation is from 1955 in Manchester and the last in 2009
  • Offences were carried out at the BBC between 1965 and 2006 - including at the last Top of the Pops recording
  • Peak offending took place between 1966 and 1976
  • Some 73% of victims were under 18
  • Most of those abused were aged 13 to 16
  • There is "no clear evidence" he operated in paedophile ring, although "whether he was part of an informal network" is still being investigated

Astonishing that he wasn't taken to task on this while he was alive.

I can sort of understand the 50s-80s no one reporting it as it kind accepted back then with big stars...but surely people in the more morden(?) era would have if they knew about it?! 2009?! ffs! It makes you wonder about still is going on!

when the likes of Prince Charles has ignored a straightforwards admission by Savile that he likes young girls (presumably because he thought he was joking), then I guess that gets to show that conplainants just wouldn't be believed because of Savile's 'good guy' reputation - which is exactly what happened when people did report it in recent years.

Pedophile Information Exchange. Not sure how they exchanged information / photos way back then when there were few computers but somehow they did.

I'm guessing by mail.

What was odd about PIE was how over-ground it was. I can vaguely remember the fuss about it that led to it being shut down (mid 70s, I think).

I didn't really understand what it was all about back then (I'd have been about 10), I can just remember it being all over the news.
