Right, I have a first, very very - VERY - basic forums app built and working. In theory it will run on any of iOS (iPhone, etc), Android, Blackberry, Symbian, WebOS, and Windows Phone ... tho I've only tested it on Android.

What I'd like to know is what features you'd like it to have. It's no good saying "make it like the current iPhone app" as I've no way of seeing what features that app actually has.

Currently the app consists of just a button which then loads the forumns (well, I did say it was very basic :P).

So .... give me your ideas and I'll see what I can do. :)

Having the pages in the thread, on the mobile web version you cant see the pages you just have to keep pressing next.

I'm aware that that's a frustration witgh the mobile skin.

The forums app I'm building (or at least, trying to build) is going to be much the same as the current iPhone forums app, which uses the mobile skin - and so the app won't be able to deal with that issue by itself, soz.

With a bit of luck there might be an improvement in the mobile skin in the next forums software release (which appears to be due pretty soon). If there's not any improvement in that release I'll put in a feature request to try and get them to add something, in the hope that they do.

Yes, that's something which i intend to include asap - but after I've got the forums part sorted. I intend to start with what's easy(ish), and work from there.

I've just registered with Google Play, so i'm hoping that I might have an app of sorts available there before the end of the week ... but i'm probably hoping too much. I'll see how it goes.

The forums themselves can't have photos posted directly into them. That applies whether using an app or a full browser.

The mobile skin supports the gallery which is attached to the forums (and could be used to host photos to then post into the forums), but just having had a look there doesn't seem to be any way to upload photos. I'll see if there's a way I can get it to upload.

yup, that's just about it. It's really only a wrapper for the mobile website & forums* at the moment, but there will be some platform specific additions built in in the future.

(*there's some issues around the forums currently, which i'm trying to get sorted ... but as far as I'm aware that'll only impact on tablet users, and perhaps not all tablet users).

I'm pleased to have the app on Google Play anyway, as it means that I can roll-out updates now. The apps that have been available previously haven't been within my control.

'Mark all as read' from the drop-down menu isn't working for me, just keeps the posts I've not read as un-read.

It does work from the web version.

I've fixed that problem, in version 0.63 which I've just 'published' - but it might be a few hours before it's available (they don't appear on Google Play instantly).

(note: there's also a v0.62 that's yet to appear on Google Play. I'm not entirely sure what will happen as I've now 'published' v0.63 to Play but it's yet to show up).

PS: I wish that swapping from mobile to full skin didn't mess posts up. :(

Thanks, I'm more than happy to try to fix any issues that anyone might find. I'm glad that one wasn't difficult to fix.

And it's good to hear that it seems faster too - I hadn't considered that as being one of the potential benefits.
