Yeah, the arena was definitely a lot smaller/more cramped than I thought it would be. Then again, I can say the same for the campsites :P

Looking at the site map there's a big gap between purple, brown & orange, not sure what's there but it means they might be able to shift everything along a bit?

im gonna go for a full dance stage (house, techno act) not commercial dance. more like the slam tent at T

an unsigned tent ... send in a tape and you could get picked

and a heavier stage

i don't think bedroom jams exists anymore.

at TITP its the transmission stage now

which is a kind of alternative stage

this year it had ...the blackout, jake bugg, reverend, PABH ect.

looking forward to the announcement before xmas though :D

I am concerned that these extra stages might not actually be musical, but promotional alcohol/video game tent/stages that they usually have littering around the outside of the arena with a couple of unsigned bands chucked on during the day to give it some validity.

Also might be worth thinking why they'd want to do this, expanding the dance range has always looked likely but do they really need two or three new stages to do that? I smell a cheap excuse to raise ticket prices.

I think this news is the nail in the coffin for Leeds being the festival it was 10 years ago and the final push towards mainstream acts. The way its worded I think the Lock up will be down to 1 day again (which will be one of the new areas), there will be a new dance tent and then the Relentless stage at leeds will become a actual stage for both festivals.

Because it makes sense due to space, the 6 current stages are

  1. Main

  2. NME

  3. FR

  4. Lock up

  5. Dance

  6. BBC Introducing

2 of those are actually one stage so to say 8, maybe 9 it must mean that they are thinking of turning the stage that is split in 2 to 3. That way you get

  1. Main

  2. NME

  3. FR

  4. BBC Inro

  5. Dance stage becomes 3 days in a new tent NEW STAGE 1

  6. Lock up (1 day)

  7. New stage instead of dance stage (1 day)

  8. New Stage (1 day) NEW STAGE 2

  9. Relentless tent becomes a recognized stage - NEW STAGE 3

I cant see, due to space, how they can do it any other way
