more stages for Reading/Leeds

You forgot the Alternative tent so the 6 mentioned isn't counting the Lock Up & Dance as one and considering Melvin Benn said additional (not new) stages and changing the layout to the arena I'm pretty sure he's not gonna call Relentless a stage and do name changes to make it seem like more stages at there.

I think your underestimating them. This announcement is something to drum up interest, Id be very surprised if there is anything more than 1 new physical stage at Leeds. There is no room for it at leeds, let alone Reading.

I reckon the dance stage will be changed to a 3day event, then they will add a different day replacing the one day dance stage we have now. Maybe a Metal stage or Acoustic stage? Or even a hip-hop/rap stage. More dance and hip-hop will prob help sell alot more tickets.

That's a point, they may do what AC/DC did and bring thier own stage and have an Ozzfest at R&L.

I doubt it, iv heard they are pretty strict on the noise restrictions as its in the city centre, but i could be wrong.

1) Main Stage - Black Sabbath (Ozzfest), Biffy Clyro & The Prodigy

2) Radio 1 Stage (outdoor) -

3) Dance Tent (using the R1 tent) - Calvin Harris, David Guetta, Nero style act

4) Festival Republic

5) Lock up style tent

6) Relentless Tent

7) Acoustic Tent

8 Alternative Tent

I think a 2nd outdoor stage is very unlikely They would have to massively re-jig the Reading arena to deal with sound leakage.

Also I don't see why they would do it. There is something very special about that tent.

I hope they don't change too much... at least not with the top two stages. Would feel weird if they were changed. Just shuffle the smaller stages round a bit, and expand the arena slightly perhaps.

It will be interesting to see if 'more diversity' means the type of chart-friendly acts like Calvin Harris/David Guette/Professor Green or whether they'll still try and keep clear of the V stuff and either have 'proper' (poor word, I know) dance or branch out into acoustic/folk/america stuff, or maybe even more cabaret stuff like Latitude.

I still think changes will be minimal and the 'new' stages will be stages in the loosest sense of the word.

If I was booking a 3 day dance stage, I'd book Knife Party, Chase & Status and Nero as headliners.

I don't think they could afford to have another stage headlined by shitty acts like Calvin Harris and David Guetta, all these guys would have to headline the NME stage if R&L are stupid enough to book them acts.
