King Animal - New Soundgarden Album After 15 Years

Stick with it dude. Your initial estimation is way off.

The majority of critiques have it down as Badmotorfinger meets Superunknown, but even that's fairly lazy. There's Louder Than Love, Down on the Upside and Ultramega OK in there too.

Other than Halfway There there's no Chris Cornell solo stuff at all.

I'm suspicious, you seem to be trying way to hard to make people like this. I'll rely on my own opinons. Professional critics have far more to consider in a review other than whether it's actually any good or not for it to be genuine, accurate or honest.

The most exciting thing I learnt from this thread is the new Deftones album which annoyingly completely passed me by as I've missed out on tickets for their tour in Feb. Saying that, the new Deftones album is insanely good.

Back to soundgarden, my mate said there was talk of a London show in December. Can't find much out about a gig or any tour dates at all. Anybody know anything?

I heard some taster stuff. It sounded canny, unlike their efforts post-Around the Fur. I'm a big fan when they get it right and incidentally they're huge fans of SG and cite them as an influence. Worst gig I've been to was a Deftones gig along with a Smashing Pumpkins gig. The sound was to blame in the former case though, ego in the latter.

Thought Diamond eyes was an extraordinary album and probably now the deftones album I listen to most, this feels like a nice move on from there. Very atmospheric, intelligent song structuring, as you said very carefully put together. Only on a couple of listens but I know there's a lot to go on and explore in this album its going to be on loop for sometime.

Deftones aren't an incredible live band, they're a little one dimensional compared to the depth found on their recorded music, but saying they're still a very good live band.

Don't get me wrong, you can put as much stock into reviews as you want to help form your opinions, just don't tell me my opinions wrong and try and use reviews to prove it. I dare say I've found you just as patronising as you've found me.
