More POP at Reading/Leeds

This is not something that I neccessarily want myself as I would like L&R to stay away from V festival type acts. However with big changes anticipated next year could we see more pop acts integrated into the line-up? I think that there could definately be positives as long as the organisers chose the right kind of acts. I could see the likes of the Noisettes, Ellie Goulding, Paloma Faith, FUN, No doubt going down quite well. What do you think?

I can't see it being more pop and those types of acts as said before, what would the point in it moving closer to compete with V?

Plus if they are moving the moving the headliners around to attract a new audience (The Cure/ Sabbath if true) the two ideas seem to conflict no?

80's retro stage ftw!

It's easy for you to define, but what other people consider to be pop varies from person to person. Makes discussion about it very difficult.

Yep. Because pop has become a dirty word, the vast majority who listen to pop - such as the sort of music which dominates EVERY festival (bar a few very specialist ones) - refuse to accept that they're listening to pop.

Metallica? pop music.

Foo Fighters? pop music.

Just about every 'indie' band ever (post '84)? pop music.

Etc, etc, etc.

By the correct definition yes, but many people don't see it that way so with all these different definitions (right or wrong) it's hard to pin down and have a conversation about pop music, because it's different to everyone. That's what I meant by it's hard to define.
