Hmmm....maybe you're 'reading' too much into that.

I get the impression that it's being used as a kind of intimidation (maybe too strong a word ) almost.

Women I know who have read it bandy it about like it's something they want and are not getting kind of thing. Not to say they want to be subjugated, or maybe they do. They proudly discuss it as if it's an ideal they want their men to be and which they are not. That's seems a bit sad to me. Particularly in mixed company, goading almost.

Oh Gawd, do I sound like Mary Whitehouse for those of you that remember her.resent.gif

I can hear all the more radical feminists sharpening their talons at the idea of women wanting to be dominated. One woman I unfortunately know had a rant that literature like this just adds to rape culture. I just pointed out she was fucking nuts

But after reading the first one, I don't think she wanted to be dominated. She was supposed to be strongly attracted to him, and prepared to try it because he wanted her to.

I can't remember how the first one ended now, I don't want to spoil the plot sarcastic.gif for anyone who hasn't read it yet, anyway.

Each to their own of course, but even if it had been well written I think I would have had problems with it, because of the whole subjugation thing.

Erm...excuse me!

So it's sexually repressed women who also have the inability to recognise shit books, and not sexually unfulfilled women reading shit books for the craic ? (ahem, excuse puns)

Sisters doing it for themselves as it were ?

Says she lovingly making soup for her hard working master.girl_to_take_umbrage.gif
