Just found this forum and had a good read through the information. Thank you so much Kuki for all the details you've provided so far :)

Can't wait for this line-up! We had been thinking of a trip to Poland this year anyway, and the dates and Blur and everything just came together perfectly. Flying with Wizz Air, got an apartment booked in Sopot for the week. Looking forward to going to Hel and the shipyards museum and things too. Unfortunately missing Rhianna as we fly home on the Saturday night!

I think I understand the alcohol stuff after reading all the reposts aha ;)

Thank you!

Not festival related, but could you possibly advise me what the best way to get from Gdansk to Krakow is? Me and my boyfriend want to travel down on the Monday to spend a few days in Krakow - however, I can't seem to book a train ticket as it says the period has exceeded?! How much would the train cost?

Sorry about all the questions! I've tried Google but can only seem to find information from about 5 years ago!

You have 2 ways :)

a) PKP - it will be.... hard :) . Our train system is far beyond civilisation. On online schedule there is TLK(cheap version, over 11h!!!) on 6.35, it costs 78zł second class ( should be 34 zł if you have valid ISIC, but I am not sure) or 112zł first class, all per person. You can also go with Express on 10.08(over 8h), but it costs about 145zł adult fare in second class.

B) PolskiBus to Warsaw and then one more time with PolskiBus to Krakow - it should cost a little bit cheaper than with PKP, but last longer. On the other hand, you go with(in most cases) comfortable bus with WiFi :) . Also, you can check Warsaw ;)

CONCLUSION - you will hate Polish communication after this trip :D ! But you will love our people and cities :) Ah, and also, don't try to buy tickets on line. It's not worth, mabye try around May if you want to be sure you have reserved seat, it's possible to travel while sitting on the floor in train ;) . Oh, and also you can try to buy couchette place, where you can sleep during travel. Of course - not so sure if you can do it on line ;)

Does anyone know if you can food/drink onto the campsite?

I'm aware of the complex Polish laws on alcohol but I got the impression from another forum that they stop you from bringing food in which sounds a bit extreme.

Thanks

Hi Kuki, could you help me with a few of my questions?

1) We're coming to Gdansk on the night of the 1st, where could we stay, we only arrive at 11.45pm!

2) What time should we get to the campsite on the 2nd to get a nice space together? (we'll have a few tents between us, maybe 3)

3) What is the Polish stance on drugs at festivals? I tried to view the polish laws and it all seems very confusing, are they used alot or not?

Thanks!

1) Wow, really bad time - usually it's after curfew. If you find hotel only for one night, you should contact reception(you should do it before reservation) whether it's possible to be there so late. Also, you can try at couchsurfing.com ;)

2) It's open from 12 a.m. , even after few hours it shouldn't be a problem to find place for more than one tent :)

3) Hope we are talking about soft drugs :D . Anyway - law is kinda strict, but it's not unusual to smoke some pot ;) . So it shouldn't be a problem to bring it to campsite. I don't know how would the security react to drugs, I didn't have this kind of problem :)

Yes, some of Polish hotels have curfew - that's why you have to make sure they will let you in after curfew ;) . Of course, at campsite nothing like that is going on!

Just remember, that polish police could be really f*cked up in the drug policy - they are also sometimes mean without a reason to foreigner ;) .

As I said earlier - there is SKM train Gdynia - Sopot and return which is: fast, cheap and going really often ;) .

Hello,

myself, my boyfriend and two of our friends have bought tickets to come to Open'er festival. I have a few questions and was wondering if anyone could help us out?

Is there only beer on offer at the campsite and around as we don't all like beer? And also is it really very difficult to sneak alcohol in?

Are there lockers or anywhere to keep belongings? This is just because we are backpacking for two months so if our rucksacks got stolen then we'd have no clothes for two months. I'm only wondering as I have had things stolen 2 out of the three times I have been to Leeds festival. If there aren't lockers at the festival, would there be lockers at Gdynia train station? Planning on using a small backpack for the week festival and keeping the rucksack locked away the whole time.

We're camping as it's cheaper and we've always camped at festivals. But we'll be staying from the 2nd until the early morning on the 7th and a lot of people have been talking about hanging out on the beach during the day. Just wondering how that is to be all sandy for 6 days with no shower =p

We have to catch a ferry to Sweden very early morning on the 7th as we're staying with family before we start travelling. Will it be easy to get to the docks and out of the festival?

Sorry for all the questions and the big long post. Thank you very much!

Hi!

This forum has been so helpful for me! I just have a few questions if that's okay?

I'm staying at a place called "Studio Bosmanskie" but I haven't been able to find any reviews or much information online about it so I was just wondering if anyone knows what it's like?

Also, for the curfew thing, does that mean some hotels don't let you in after a certain time or are a lot of them happy to extend it for the festival maybe?

We have a little kitchen in the apartment as well so is it easy to find food shops/supermarkets in the centre? I would assume it is but I'm not too sure!!

Thanks!
