Although this is from IOW they played it as the first band on the Pyramid in 2003.

Worst ever cover and I'm not sure if they've ever played it at Glasto but scissor sisters should hav suffered a slow painful execution after murdering comfortably numb. That made me sick

Best cover ever? Tom Jones and Ella Fitzgerald, Sunny, (inexplicably) in their Rocking chairs? There are better covers of this tune actually, and I'll think of better cover versions per sé in a minute, but this 1970 clash of legends is always sure to raise a smile?

The original cover on the 1978 album "Comes a Time" is probably my favourite cover of all time. I listened to this for many years thinking it was a Neil Young song and I listened to that album a lot.

This is from Farm Aid 1995 and features Willie Nelson, Beautiful beyond words.

best 2

McCartney covering that Oasis song in '04...can't recall if it was "Little James" or "All Around the World", but the one with the 'na...na, na, na, na' bit in it? Crowd was singing it into the night as they departed the Pyramid Field to the left. Must have been the after-effect of Oasis' overwhelming set the night before...

runner-up, 'A Day in the Life' Friday night 2009, mentioned a few times on here already. Anyone read "waging heavy peace" by the way? read the reviews and was disappointed from what it seems like he mostly writes about, so haven't picked it up. Was really looking forward to it though.

Best - The Flaming Lips's version of 'Somewhere over the Rainbow' from their 1999(?) set in the New Band Tent when it was located near Outer Mongolia.

I also liked the sing-a-long to 'Video Killed the Radio Star' by The Feeling as I walked along the track top of the Pyramid Field.

I'm not sure I have a 'worst'. Covers have to be taken in context with the actual event of the gig. Reanalysing them on Youtube years after is a bit pointless I think. However....

I suppose the worst cover has to be a note for note copy of Genesis by Marillion in '83 for the *whole* bloody set. Ridiculous.

and if we're discussing whether covers are ever as good as the original, this is what Alan Vega said about this:

"I'm still high from that show. Now I can die. Not only he's playing 'Dream Baby Dream,' but it's the big encore song, the last song of the show," Alan Vega told Backstreets Magazine in an interview. "A lot of bands have done my stuff, Suicide stuff [...] Thank god, finally somebody did their version of it. He interpreted my song, he did it his way, and such a great way that I'm going to have to sing it that way, or not sing it at all anymore!" In the interview, Vega talked about Springsteen's version of DREAM BABY DREAM, the Bridgeport show, how he first met Springsteen, the Nebraska album, and much more... At the end of the interview, when asked what's his favorite Springsteen song, Vega answered "'Dream Baby Dream.' On my death bed, that's the last thing I'm going to listen to. I'll play it at my funeral."
