Best/Worst Covers

The only one that I can think of right now is White Stripes' version of Jolene in 2005. It's something they do quite a bit, rather than just a spur of the moment Glasto-special though, so not sure if it counts for this thread

edit: Hmm, I can't get the vid to embed, but here's a link

Of this year's covers, Amanda Palmer's Common People was brilliant, a possible festival highlight. Dinosaur Jr's Just Like Heaven is a standard fixture of their sets, and with good reason; it's excellent. The Smashing Pumpkins' mandatory Space Oddity was pretty cool, but the slot could have gone to a better Pumpkins song. Haim's cover of Oh Well seemed to fit what they were about, but was too polished and staged for my liking, they didn't go through all of Part 1, never mind Part 2, probably fun if you're a fan of them and don't know the original though. Liam Gallagher dragging Rock N Roll Star out of bed early in the morning was embarrassingly shite... and incidentally the best part of his set.

Jay-Z covering wonderwall as an eff you to Noel and/or Liam. Amazing stuff.

That was an electrifying start to a set after such anticipation beforehand

Quite possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen on stage. Absolute genius.

Just wait until you see Peter Kay headlining the Saturday. It's the future!

Classic.

I'm sure I saw Bill Bailey play at the bottom of the theatre field on the Sunday after all the main acts had finished one year. Pissing hard with rain. "Put the umbrellas down". 2007 I think? Possibly 2011 though?

Can anyone remember?

Anyway, I remember wondering back then if it would become a regular thing. Which it obviously didn't. Which is a pity 'cause it was great.

Tim Minchin would be cool.

He must have done it more than once cos I saw him do it and I wasn't there in 2007. And I thought it was same time as the headliner but wouldn't swear to it though.

He opened the main stage at Latitude one day in 2021.
