More Stages. More Bands. Even More For Your Money.

With Reading Festival returning on the August Bank Holiday, 2013 will see MORE stages, MORE acts and MORE space than ever before

We are beyond excited to announce the addition of the brand new BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage to Reading 2013, an increase to the dance line-up with the newly named BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage to run over three days and around a 25% increase to the size of the festival site.

Reading has always been at the forefront of musical talent and the new BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage will be no exception with festival goers being treated to the best in grime and hip-hop from across the UK and beyond in what will be an explosive addition to the Reading line-up.

“The addition of this stage is as exciting as anything we’ve ever done at Reading & Leeds. It is something that’s been developing in my head for some time and, after discussion, it has now become a reality as the BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage.

This stage will absolutely hit you straight between the eyes with the best of UK hip-hop and grime, with some US acts in the line-up too. I’m delighted to be working with BBC Radio 1Xtra on it and also with promoter ”. Melvin Benn, Managing Director, Festival Republic

The Dance Stage has always been a highlight of the weekend with massive names from the likes of Dizzee Rascal to Wiley to Azealia Banks taking to the stage over recent years but with the newly named BBC Radio 1 Dance Stage extending the dance line-up over three days, crowds are sure to be blown away with even more huge tunes to rave to over the weekend.

All this, plus the usual stellar line-up across the Main, NME/Radio 1, Festival Republic, Lock Up, Alternative and BBC Introducing Stages means that the festival will continue to hold on to its heritage through still putting on the the best names from across the rock, indie, metal, punk and alternative music scenes.

It’s the biggest Reading yet and we are buzzing at all the changes to come; best of all you get even more for your money with MORE acts performing at the festival than ever before.

They can't be that in front if they haven't realised dubstep has taken over from grime for the hippity-hop kids.

Not going to go searching but its basically what I said when the extra stages were first announced.

Dance tent will be the only new tent, the 1 xtra tent is going to take over the relentless stage (which is where the new space will come from)

Any other "stages" will come from splitting the lock up stage up.
