Who's getting bumped up to Headliner?

There's a band getting the push up to headliner. Who will it be?

It won't be Bloc Party, seeing as they've accepted a non-headlining slot at IOW.

It seems it's down to Biffy or Mumford, unless there's a curveball.

So who will it be? Will you be happy? and when is there enough writing in a post? now? now.

There's a first-time headliner every year (in recent memory) so it shouldn't be a surprise, we should be used to it by now.

Depeche Mode maybe?

I don't think MB actually specifically said they were giving someone the bump this year...

Although, yeah, it seems there's been a 'new' headline ever year for a while now

I wouldn't count your chickens yet. 2011 had two headliners who played lower down at TITP. Pulp (Leeds headliner titp sub) and My Chemical Romance (R&L headliner titp 3rd top)

TITP isn't in England though.

Don't forget the Strokes that year as well.

It's slightly different though, IOW is seen as a slightly smaller and eclectic festival while TITP is more of a mainstream beast. It makes sense that band will play higher at T than R&L but with IOW bands have generally played the same slot or lower.

The point still stands that R&L could still have bloc party as a headliner(not that I think they will headline) like other bands though R&L is generally a better fit therefore more chance of a headline, the strokes, pulp, MCR, Blink 182

Of course it could, anything could happen.

But if you're talking about the likehood rather than just what might happen then TITP isn't the best example as it's more likely to happen at TITP (more mainstream so acts suited to R&L will play lower) than IOW (smaller than R&L, eclectic mix of acts).

It's all theory, if it had happened in the past at IOW it would be a good reference point but I don't know if it has.

Fair point, I'm pretty sure that Pulp were advertised as co-headliners at IOW that year as well though. In fact I know they were as someone proved me wrong when I argued that they weren't, and I guess that co-headlining (but in reality subbing) IOW and co-headlining (subbing at one and headlining the other) R&L is a massive grey area. If they replicate that situation again then yeah, but it's different than a straight sub at IOW being a straight headliner at R&L.

Yup, i think this became even more evident today. I would say it must be fairly clear that either R&L or V have Mumford on an english Exclusive at least but I'd bet it'll be R&L.

True, however Rob Swire posted a tweet saying "Pendulum Live Set Up 2013" with a link to a video on youtube; although the link was a joke Gareth from the band retweeted it and then tweeted himself "big news in my last retweet". Could be just a continuation of the joke and my wishful thinking; but you never know.

True, although I think that Flo could probably still sub V and get away with it, whereas after this upcoming festival season I wouldn't be too sure about Mumford.

Can't see Pendulum coming back any time soon what with Knife Party being on a roll & riding the dubstep/brostep (whatever the music it is, I care not, I like it) scene at the moment.

I would love to see them back though. Seen them play a tiny uni hall, the dangerous Reading mid-day slot to headlining Bestival, just a great band that R&L love. This was carnage
