Eminem

Well we are over saturated theses days with the choice of gigs and festivals. Bands like Killers and Kol have pretty much been constantly touring and releasing. I like both bands but it seems their management don't want to say no to a pay day and most of my friends who regularly attend gigs have seen them both numerous times.

On the plus side, with Reading's aims to diversify the festival, I can only imagine a very different pair of bands to fill the other slots as headliners. More 'classic Reading' bands like Blur, Biffy, Arctics, Prodigy hopefully. But not gonna lie, i think Eminem is a very brave and exciting booking! :)

Yeah, he's headlined before but i think the announcement was such a surprise to what anyone expected. And a rap artist at what is traditionally a rock festival will always create very mixed reviews, i mean the last time a rapper played a high position at Reading, he got bottled off (50 cent).

Ahh yeah forgot about Dizzee, and ill give you that 50 cent is shit :P but either way, i think booking a rapper at a rock festival will always create controversy, and is therefore a brave decision if it works out...and if eminem sticks to Marshall Mather EP, Eminem Show and his better earlier stuff, i think it will be a great show.

it was certainly unexpected - in the 45 minutes before it was announced, there was just one person who tweeted suggesting it might be (while there were 1000's of other random eminem mentions, often song lyrics), and in the many hours before the announcement (efesters knew it was coming long before anyone else) not one person on here suggested him to be playing (I think there were no mentioned on R/L's facebook either, but it wasn't me personally looking at that).

But it's not a brave booking, and neither was his first booking 12 years ago. He was always obviously a rock-acceptable act (in the way that The Prodigy also are), while 50 Cent was definitely the opposite. What happened with 50 Cent angered the fuck out of me, and caused big arguments here, but what cannot be denied is that everyone knew it was hugely likely to happen as it did.

As for it being a good show .... well ... if he's improved by about a million times since last time, only then is it worth getting hopeful of a good show.

They have already moved in that direction due to the 1xtra stage but Eminem being successfull doesn't mean Jay Z would be successfull, Eminem is much bigger and popular and despite Jay Z headlining Glasto & Wireless he still subs at other fests. Kayne West is more likely.

I'd actually prefer the Jigga Man to both of them, he's actually decent live.

You should leave a prediction for festivals up to 2015, as your final post and then when all the 2015 line ups are out, you can come back and be like HA TOLD YOU SO!

Also Jump is bang on, its nothing to do with genre... (Though if it was other rappers I have my suspicions it might be a racial thing for some people).

Well guys, enjoy debating on these forums, I'm done with them now, used to enjoy them but after today, I'm not continuing after the ignorance and arrogance of a particular person on these boars.

Shall just catch up from the back
