Very strange request for help/info !

This is probably going to be the weirdest O/T request for info ever on eFests and it's most certainly not in any way festival related but any assistance will be very gratefully received I'm looking for some specific hard copy BT Telephone Directories and am hoping that 1 or more efesters reading this will have the particular directories I need to look at lying around somewhere. I don't think Public Libraries keep hard copies any more (only provide online access) but I'm off to find out tomorrow just in case they still do or can obtain copies for me.

Although I'm not attempting to do anything that is even remotely dodgy here, it wouldn't really be appropriate for me to explain what information I'm trying to find and why just now (or indeed in public) other than to say that I'm searching for documentary evidence to prove a breach of the Data Protection Act. Unfortunately, online access to or live copies of the OSIS Telephone Number Database or similar are not going to be in any way helpful because the relevant details have apparently already been quietly removed ... presumably in an attempt to cover up any potential breach and/or to enable those who might be responsible to deny all knowledge of certain personal data being erroneously disseminated and without consent or indeed any authority to do so even if it had actually been disseminated correctly.

I need to check for an entry in the 2011/12 (or earlier) and the current 2012/13 BT Directories that cover the Milborne Port, Sherborne area (e.g. DT9 5EL or thereabouts), which is presumably the Wincanton (01963) STD code area and will most likely be listed in the Taunton directory I think. I also need to check the 2011/12 (or earlier) BT Directory for Bournemouth, I already have the current 2012/13 copy.

If anyone has any of these directories handy can they please PM me and I'll get back to you later tonight with a very quick request to look something up for me and let me know what (if anything) is listed. Ta muchly in advance

Doesn't the British Library hold a copy of every item that has ever gone to print? Whether this includes phone books I'm not sure. It may mean a trip to London to have a look at them though

tough one... looks like they hide the results from google just so privacy isn't infringed. you can probably easily find the current phone books but the older ones will be more difficult to find. sorry can't help you much :/
