mrtourette
So to summarise, we're screwed.
AcademicPistol
Justice is just a word the vengeful use when they want to seem righteous. It's a ridiculous concept based around the ridiculous and outdated idea that there's some form of scales and balance. This whole idea of punishing criminals rather than seeking rehabilitation is the reason for reoffending, not because we don't make the punishment stick hard enough. It just comes from a base desire for petty vengeance that we should be able to overcome with reasoned intelligent debate. So to summarise, we're screwed. kaosmark2
We are indeed screwed because no matter how we package it man is a vengeful creature and as ridicoulus as it is people will always want to correct the wrongs that have fallen on them. When it comes down to it if I saw someone stabbing my child to death and I had a gun in my hand I wouldn't hesitate because all I am is a bag of meat that over thinks things. AcademicPistol
My point is that vengeance doesn't correct any wrongs. People feel like it does, but there's no actual use to it.

Amy Lawn
Of course vengeance corrects a wrong, knowing that a murderer, paedophile or robber is incarcerated and being deprived of his freedom for however long makes some people happy. It may seem twisted to some but to others revenge is sweet. If vengeance doesn't correct any wrongs then the families of those killed in the Hillsborough disaster should have given up years ago. These families want blood, they want the police prosecuted and sent to prison they wont stop till every last person has been brought to justice. kaosmark2
Incarcerating a murderer is not about revenge, is about keeping a dangerous individual out of the world of decent people who live their lives right and abide by the law. 2rare2die
What about when someone pleads guilty and there's no doubt as to whether they did it? Does that solve all the moral qualms?
kaosmark2
I wasn't trying to moralise anything, if you go back and read what I was replying to.
2rare2die
I am. I'm trying to contest the morality of it being OK to kill guilty prisoners. Also, sorry, it wasn't just directed at you. It was a general question in relation to a comment you made.

jump
No, I've already stated they appear to be him. Whether they are or not I can't say for sure. You're obviously sore about something to do with people being wrongly convicted but there's no need to attack everyone who has a say on the matter. Mouseboy11
Its why your posting stuff about it that does my head in. Who gives a crap if he puts bottles or baseball bats up his own arse? Is that a criminal offense? Its like your saying he put a baseball bat up his arse so he must be out there raping 1 year old babies. Over christmas try and get a brain cell. thetime
I didn't suggest that at all, no it's not a criminal offence but it's a bit odd for someone to go posting pictures of himself doing such things.
Mouseboy11
Im not intrested in seeing such pics, perhaps you need to ask yourself why YOU feel the need to go searching for them. How do you know he posted them?
the wonderwhy
This is actually going to be such an anti-climax if/when he gets convicted...
thetime
I was interested in the case. I didn't go searching for the pictures. It's been said he had an account on a website I went on his profile and there they were as his picture, wasn't expecting them. I don't for sure do I, nobody does.
