Daron is an amazing backing vocalist, one of the best there's been, but he's only a decent lead singer. Serj has hardly any presence on Hypnotize and it's a much weaker album for it. Mezmerize and Hypnotize are clearly linked and tied, but while Mezmerize is a cracking album with the odd weak track, Hypnotize is a boring, pointless album with the odd good track.

I don't think they needed to do a double album. And Daron's insistence on getting increasing lead vocals is why SOAD stopped being as amazing as before, and why they ended up splitting.

Placebo played another festival that weekend aswel, which was announced pretty much at the same time(cant remember what it was).

Will be interesting if soad get announced for the other one or not.

Can't see why they would play a secret set when not everything has been booked. Plus if Neil was saying they may be sceptical after the almost disaster the last time they played I couldn't see him booking the for anything other than the main stage.

If they were doing arenas it would be around the same time as the festival, they could risk missing out on some if their fans who could be at the festival. Could still see it.

While I'd prefer Arena's in a way, they'd also unlikely play Cardiff and none of my mates would travel as they'd rather go see some NME hype band.

They headed Download in 05 but it's clearly one a much more orientated metal festival and two it's a smaller festival.

There is a 2nd barrier in place now and the interested crowd would be expected to be less now than back then, 10 years ago.

I agree with that. That could be the key thing, how much longer will it take to announce any arena tour if they are doing them.

I guess given the fact that even though it happened happened once on the reunion tour that they did 3 in a row. Reading to Leeds or vise versa then to Milan isn't too bad.

Bands, dependant can play higher at Download than at R&L.
