kaosmark2
Daron is an amazing backing vocalist, one of the best there's been, but he's only a decent lead singer. Serj has hardly any presence on Hypnotize and it's a much weaker album for it. Mezmerize and Hypnotize are clearly linked and tied, but while Mezmerize is a cracking album with the odd weak track, Hypnotize is a boring, pointless album with the odd good track. I don't think they needed to do a double album. And Daron's insistence on getting increasing lead vocals is why SOAD stopped being as amazing as before, and why they ended up splitting. Also, Serj solo >> Scars on Broadway.
thetime
System of a down confirmed for rock en seine. Nailed on for r&l?
mrtourette
Certainly appears likely, although there are bands that play and don't do R&L (off the top of my head Placebo and Dandy Warhols last year).

thetime
If so we are almost guaranteed an arena or two in the UK.

thewayiam
Going to throw it out there, an arena tour or a secret set like Green Day did.

thewayiam
Can't see why they would play a secret set when not everything has been booked. Plus if Neil was saying they may be sceptical after the almost disaster the last time they played I couldn't see him booking the for anything other than the main stage. If they were doing arenas it would be around the same time as the festival, they could risk missing out on some if their fans who could be at the festival. Could still see it. Mouseboy11
While I'd prefer Arena's in a way, they'd also unlikely play Cardiff and none of my mates would travel as they'd rather go see some NME hype band.

kev1664
What was the almost disaster the last time they played? Wasn't there?
thetime
Collapsing barrier. I wasn't there either, just something Neil said why he would have doubts over em playing.
thewayiam
I think they would be a good shout if not for them probably playing R&L. I don't really think they would need to delay the announcement of their own arena tour. Considering they have already released a few. Yellow_Fellow
They headed Download in 05 but it's clearly one a much more orientated metal festival and two it's a smaller festival.
kev1664
There is a 2nd barrier in place now and the interested crowd would be expected to be less now than back then, 10 years ago.
Mouseboy11
Out of interest, how often did R&L used to both sell out?
kev1664
I agree with that. That could be the key thing, how much longer will it take to announce any arena tour if they are doing them. I guess given the fact that even though it happened happened once on the reunion tour that they did 3 in a row. Reading to Leeds or vise versa then to Milan isn't too bad. They would be an incredibly weak headliner though, they don't even back up being a headliner back in their prime by venue's they did and rightly they didn't do it. They headed Download in 05 but it's clearly one a much more orientated metal festival and two it's a smaller festival. Bands, dependant can play higher at Download than at R&L.
