lharris92
i honestly think Eminem will be the saving grace of this year's festival. i know an awful lot of people, and weirdly have overheard people on the street, saying they're seriously thinking of going purely to see Eminem. say what you want about him, he has pulling power, and whether the weekend sells out or not, his day definitely will
kev1664
There's evidence to back that up (which has been discussed many times). I can't really see any connection between the 2008 headliners which was three of the biggest acts in the world, along with a massively strong undercard, and those three. Sparticus
Biffy is a good choice, back to back strong albums, only getting bigger and, if opposites gets the same reception as only revolutions, they could be britain's answer to kings of leon in terms of shifting tickets. That being said, what with them already doing a huge tour before the festival, I can't help but feel they've got an ace left up their sleeves (sabbath with system would be fantastic, and being realistic I don't think system can pull off headlining reading/ leeds)
insideaway
i know quite a few people who go to leeds and eminem has split them almost 50/50, Biffy seems to be excepted be all bar 1 or 2. Tbh can see them gettin a huge crowd depending whos on NME
FloorFiller
What evidence? All I've seen is conjecture. People making up statements like biffy won't sell tickets because they've got a tour and already sold loads, SOAD won't sell because the reunion hype is gone. Eminem won't sell because he's no longer relevant.

If this was SOAD's first gig in the UK (they still wouldn't reach RATM level but would be nearer than now), if Biffy had much more commercial success and if it was Em ten years ago, you'd get near. FloorFiller
the hype surrounding the RATM reunion was ridiculous though. i've never known so many people to go mental about a single band playing a festival before. almost everybody i know went to Leeds that year. System don't have that same pulling power at all. maybe NOW Rage don't have it either, but at the time, goddamn. the hype over System reforming isn't nearly as big as Rage's, and even if it were, it happened two years ago now so people are over it

kev1664
not evidence per se but just sense. apart from the Eminem argument, which is bullshit, the other two arguments make total sense. Biffy have been at every festival, all of the time, for years, so whilst being a popular act, as a headliner, they seem a bit weak as they've always been everywhere. we haven't had a break from them. and as for System Of A Down... i think most people who were DESPERATE to see them already saw them at Download, and so whilst you will get a few casual fans going just for them, it won't be a massive amount
Yellow_Fellow
I still wanna see them. Didnt at Download, had exams.
FloorFiller
but the thing is, like i said, Biffy have been at every festival over the last few years. even if you didn't want to see them you probably did 'cause they were everywhere and popular throughout the last few years. Mumfords have only just taken off so massively so suddenly everybody wants to see them, and i'm sure their shows will have sold out ridiculously fast as for SOAD... well there's nothing more i can really say other than i just don't think they're a big pull anymore. they haven't done anything to differentiate this performance from every other performance they've done since reforming

thesecretingredientiscrime
I still want to see them, and I was at Download I don't understand people thinking that most people will only want to see a band they like just the once. Last year I saw Rammstein twice in two days, and was f**king overjoyed when they were announced for Download, and I'd definitely be happy if SOAD were announced for R+L. thejimbola
When you consider how many people were at SOAD at DL, and then how many of those would want to see them again, I'd assume it would be an almost insignificant amount. jump
^I'm not sure what's the point of that post is but System did get a mixed reception when they played Download so I could see a few people not intrested by them.

lightning1000
Who the hell is hoing to pay 90 quid for a biffy day ticket?
thewayiam
What does this mean? I don't understand. There was a good 40-50,000 people watching SOAD at Download. Why would any of them NOT want to see them again?
jump
I doubt anyone was put off ever seeing them again!
thejimbola
I saw a few people in the Download forum declare them as "shit" and wouldn't bother seeing them again, of course that doesn't mean it was everyone at the fest tho. thejimbola
Because they've all already seen them. You're assuming all of those people that were watching were SOAD fans, who'd pay 95 quid to see them again. Not everyone in the crowd will have enjoyed it enough to go again.
