foolee
And what age are the majority of those Who fans? Are they likely to attend R&L? I don't think they are. I think the way The Who would sell is if you put the "totes indie" crowd as their undercard. I think most people are forgetting they're doing Quadrophenia. Considering you'd be lucky for most R&L goers to get five or six songs, it would be even less in a Quadrophenia set.
the wonderwhy
Off the top of my head I can name: Baba O'Riley My Generation Pinball Wizard Subsitute Real Good Looking Boy Love Reign O'er Me You Better You Bet and Won't Get Fooled Again I think they're all on Then And Now, which is the album I've got I'd say most of my mates could name that lot too, we're all fans. I doubt that's the same for most my age though...
thetime
I just think it would be a good booking and if they offered to play R&L the organizers would snap them up there and then.

thesecretingredientiscrime
I don't know, I'd say a variety of age would have bought tickets for it. And more so at R&L, I believe alot of fans that may know one or two of The Who's song's would look at the lineup Biffy/Eminem/The Who and buy a weekend ticket and watch the who for novelty. I'm not a massive fan of them, and wouldn't buy tickets to go see them at there own concert but I wouldn't think twice about watching them if they announced for a festival that looked decent. By the way I don't believe they will be booked, I just think it would be a good booking and if they offered to play R&L the organizers would snap them up there and then. the wonderwhy
I guess if they did announce an older headliner like The Who they'd try to push them to younger audience through airtime on Radio 1 a bit more (I'm sure they did that with The Cure last year...). Its certainly easier to do that with The Who than say, Black Sabbath, especially with the 'mod revival' at the minute. Still can't see it happening though. thesecretingredientiscrime
Yeah AND QUADROPHENIA IS ON ALL THE TIME RECENTLY, SO THAT DEFINITELY MEANS THEY'RE PLAYING!!!! (Seriously, I'm fairly sure Quadrophenia, Oceans eleven, Bruce Almighty and American Pie are the only films ITV actually have. I've started to think Morgan Freeman was Jimmy, and had an encounter with Brad Pitt and a pie.)
dentalplan
Why do people say things like 'if X sub Y and Z play further down, they'd shift loads of day tickets'. I assumed weekend tickets were the priority and day tickets were an afterthought.
truthpigeon
The Who WILL NOT headline or play this year. It's a ridiculous prediction at best. Arctics or Blur. Trust.

foolee
Hmm, I'd be fairly confident their crowd will be going towards older people, the type who won't attend R&L. I could see where you're coming from, assuming the undercard was indietastic, but I simply can't see them being a draw for weekend or day tickets at R&L. I'm not denying they're a draw, but its very much on their terms. I'm not convinced them on their own would sell tickets to 16 year olds, and I'm not sure their diehard fans would be willing to go to a festival like R&L. kaosmark2
Limp Bizkit! Oh man I'd just erased that from my mind. I'd prefer Led Zep to The Who
johndoe93
I think the 3rd headliner is going to have to be a pretty big. Biffy Clyro may be number one but not one person out of the 20+ who I'm going with think Biffy is headliner worthy. You can argue they they deserve it because they've worked so hard but it doesn't make them headline material.

Gucci Piggy
Most 16 year olds will know more Led Zeppelin songs than The Cure. Led Zeppelin would sell more day tickets. No brainer who to book for the 3rd headliner really, isn't it?
