Who is the 3rd headliner likely to be?

Personally, based on not a lot aside from Reading changing direction somewhat, I think the 3rd headliner will be more 'pop' than 'heavy'.

------

Someone is telling me that it's Green Day, based on gossip he's heard from others (who might know, but often don't).

I find it slightly hard to believe, but at the same time don't think it's impossible - tho I've yet to do any checks on it. I will of course be doing some checks.

Interesting.....green day, Blur, and LP could all be described somewhat as pop....and the only one I think will look out of place above system is blur. Unless it is a shocker like arctic monkeys, kol but that really wouldn't fit John from soads statement.

It did sound like system said they had fun with and would be interested in doing it again with the 3rd headliner, which makes me think biffy must be closing the Sunday.

I agree the "clue" is so open its hard to take it as a clue, but if we take the 3 points of

A) headliner has played with system before a long time ago

B) headliner has inspired system

C) headliner could be "pop".

The conclusion my gut makes is its a older band with pop elements, and maybe on the heavier side. If I just go by that and forget about tours, because let's face it it looks like this could be a 1 off show for the band going by lack of rumours, I'd say it could be anyone from green day, blur, rhcp, linkin park, ratm, and prodigy. There's probably more. And I don't know for sure if they have played with system before but I don't know how we would ever find out

Like the Biffy 'clue' it's very ambiguous and depends what he meant by 'played with' (snigger). It could mean on the bill with on a different day/stage, could mean played on the same day/stage, could mean played directly under. Could mean festival, could mean a gig. We can say 'yeah but technically they played with Blur in 2003' but if he meant something a bit more by 'played with' then it doesn't mean anything.

I think the thing about being 'a really good opportunity to have a fun time together' is more telling, suggesting it's a band that they get on with well enough to accept the offer just to play with them.

Yeah or Green Day, or anyone else that could loosely fit into that. I don't actually know who they have or haven't played with and in what capacity, I was just saying it seems futile trying to argue over what fits and what doesn't when it's not really clear what he meant.
