Would you ever buy from a tout?

Yeah, have done a fair few times and would do again. Never Viagogo or such scum though. Only twice paid above face value and both times were under £5 over. £20 for an £18 ticket and £30 for a £26.50 one. I've sold tickets to touts as well. There's been a fair few times mates have screwed me over by saying "Sure, I'll go" then cancelling last minute, so I've just gone alone and flogged the extra. Only got face value once, so touts often still make a profit when selling to you at face value, but the street ones make it a fair whack easier.

For the last 3 years I've only ever gone to Reading BECAUSE I can get cheap tickets on ebay at the gate. I wouldn't have paid face value for the lineups.

I've bought and sold tickets several times on eBay, but only for genuine reasons and I never sell at more than face value, most of the time well below.

So many chancers snap up tickets on opening day now just to make a profit that they often get it wrong and end up having to accept a loss. I've had some real bargains as a result, such as £16 for Green Day in 2009, and 4 tickets for the opening gig of the 2009 Oasis tour at Heaton Park for £100. That was the night the generators failed and Noel offered everyone their money back, and I'm proud to say that I never considered taking him up on the offer, but if I had I could have actually MADE money for going to a gig!!

I think the only time I paid over face value was for the Sex Pistols in 2007, but it was only a little over and only a week beforehand so it was to be expected really.

The only time I've ever dealt with a tout outside a gig was to sell a £60 ticket that I got let down on at the last minute, and he gave me £10 for it. The fact that nobody subsequently turned up to sit next to me means that hopefully the tw@t got stuck with it.

I have used touts a handful of times over the years. You have to be cautious though. First time they switched a standing for a seating. Since then I have been extra vigilant.

However, there was one gig at the academy glasgow where they now do a ticket scan. Somehow someone got outside with a used ticket and sold it to tout who sold it on to me. I found him and he swapped it but I made him stand at the doors (next to two policemen) until i got in. I imagine it was my rather carrying voice about being ripped off (he also tried to give me top tier standing earlier as well) and police presence than any fear of physical intimidation. I think it was also too early for him to cut and run.

Afterwards I just thought cant be arsed with that again.

As I just posted elsewhere:

I see SeeTickets are starting to try and implement anti-touting measures:

http://www.facebook.com/seetickets/posts/10151778255034572

REGARDS RE-SALE OF TICKETS.

There are no psychical tickets distributed for this show.

Card holder ticket collection at venue ONLY. We cannot change name details on any current orders.

Once details for buyer are confirmed you will be given a wristband that is attached then and there. That is the only way to gain access to the show.

Wristbands will only be given to the ticket buyer and whomever they have also bought a ticket for. Both must be present.

Tampered/broken wristbands will not be accepted for entry.

Anyone attempting to sell tickets on 3rd party websites must be aware that buyers will NOT be able to use these tickets.

Anyone attempting to buy tickets sold on 3rd party websites please be aware you will NOT be able to use these tickets.

Security and staff will be prepared and in place to ensure that card holders/official ticket buyers are the only people allowed to collect and use the wristbands.

Again we want to apologise to anyone who had problems today, we don't enjoy seeing this many people frustrated, but we are doing everything we can to ensure those successful in purchasing tickets are the ones who attend. We're doing everything we can to prevent these tickets from being touted.

Got a nice little story to tell you.A few years ago we went to Benicasim and met up with another crowd there, friends of friends like, anyway this girl had a spare ticket she wanted to sell as her friend couldn't go,so we walked up to the entrance to the campsite to see if we could sell it,there were 3 young lads sitting there looking a bit miserable so she asked them if they wanted to buy a ticket, they couldnt believe there luck as one of them had come all that way hoping to get one so she sold it to him at face value, their faces were a picture.Total misery guts to whooping with joy in a moment, still makes me smile.

It's a very great feeling to pass unwanted tickets on to people who are desperate for them. I have done it many times, the best one probably being a couple in Manchester who where on their way home from a days shopping trip. Me and nightcrawler had been to a gig but we had to come away because we also had tickets for the theatre.

No idea what they did with all their shopping bags but they were pretty happy to be randomly sent to see massive attack :)
