Just checking, would it be against the forum rules or the wishes of others if I started 2 new threads? one for general TV chatter and one for movies, with the "No Spoilers!" warning on them. then people can decide which thread they want to use?

or will TGD and Rufus request a title change for their respective threads?

Sorry if I have ever posted a spoiler without using the spoilers thing, although I have to add - I knew Bruce Willis was dead straight away and when the cinema audience gasped and I was told why, I was so so disappointed. I shall never forget that sad day.

I'm amazed that this even needs discussion, I (naively) thought that my understanding as laid out in my OP was a generally understood unwritten rule on most forums.

as I said before, one board I use quite regularly is an instant permaban for posting spoilers. I dont think its unreasonable to go into a thread looking for recommendations on what might be good to watch, and expect it to be spoiler free, but if you go into the "breaking bad" thread, people are going to be talking about the latest episodes. I've just watched The Walking Dead which aired last night in the US, and found out it doesnt air here until friday, so I wont be posting in there until people have had the chance to see it, even though strictly speaking it would be acceptable.

Its nice to see that when people who regularly post in the general threads join this particular debate, a bit of common sense starts to creep in.
