Ratchet was brilliantly weird, can't wait to hear it again. They were excellent at Earl's Court, but I think I preferred them in Bristol in October - just seeing them again for the first time after the hiatus made the difference. Plus they played We Are Not Good People then. And one more song off Intimacy - shame they've pretty much erased it from their setlists now :(.

I'd probably be open to missing them at a festival now, (Glasto/Reading this year - I assume they'll do one or both of them) if there was some hideous clash - I've had my fill, I think.

I'd argue Bloc Party are perhaps a more mass-appealing band that people would be happy to hear announced, whereas people who like The XX are more likely to be swayed by their announcement into buying a ticket. That is, The XX are more of a draw on their own, but Bloc Party might add something to an already good lineup for the casual fan that The XX wouldn't.

I meant more of a win/win for the festival :P

I doubt I would go see The XX, but Bloc Party I would. If the NIN rumour is true, and they do get XX/Bloc Party, this could end up being one of the best lineups.

Of course people won't look at it like that right now, but in a few years time people will look back on this regardless of those 3 acts and wish they were there.

If they were to bring the same stage show to Reading I really couldn't see headlining.

I think a long shot would be seeing them pop up half way on the running order as an of sorts special guests with a longer set (see Madness 2011).

Or what I now think may happen... Mr. Benn takes note of new material + sell out of Earls Court (close to Readings audience) & they play a secret set that everyone knows about. Maybe a bit like Green Day last year as they won't get another band as big as that doing it again or just unannounced.

They're never boring. They'll never (or at least haven't yet, and Ratchet looks like continuing that) make the same album twice. One of the reasons I love them so much.

You don't seriously think Biffy were the first band to have a topless drummer, do you?
