The Rise of Rock'n'heim

Is there anybody who has seen this festival? The line-up looks awesome so far with System of a Down, Nine Inch Nails, Tenacious D, Volbeat, Deftones, Biffy Clyro and others. http://www.rock-n-heim.com/

Does anybody know if all the headliners are known or is it only SOAD so far?

I'll buy my ticket today, bring on Germany :)

It's a completely new festival organised by the guy who does rock am ring/rock im park, so no infos what so ever at the moment.

I would guess though that SOAD and maybe Die Ärzte are the first two headliners. Die Ärzte are quite large here and play stadiums, they headlined rock am ring a few years ago as well. But I might be wrong as they aren't at the top of the bill...maybe 2nd stage headliner...

We in Germany are waiting for more infos ourselves. The Hockenheimring is a great race track to have a festival, I can def. tell you that :) went to see AC/DC a few years ago and camped - super atmosphere.

You don't think Volbeat is a headliner as they headlined Wachen 2011 or 2012. I don't know Die Ärzte and as you said, they areen't at the top of the bill so my guess would be they are not headliner.

I just bought my ticket so I'm definitely going :)

If the rest of the line up is anything like what's been announced so far it will be I booked the bands my self :P

Bit surprised they have gone for that weekend as it's already one of the most congested in the summer calendar. You've got V (obvs twin site), Lowlands, Pukkelpop, Frequency and Highfield (which is also in Germany and already has Die Arzte confirmed?!?) all taking place in Western Europe in the space of 4 days. Granted there's the argument that the bands are in the area so can hop between festivals but they can each only do a maximum of 4 festivals (out of a possible 7 if you count V as 2) so that will mean there's a lot of competition for signatures. Appreciate too that the demographics are not the same (V and Highfield being good examples of polar opposites!) but the others are all looking to book many of the same acts.

Be interesting to compare all the line ups once they are out though. Also wonder how all the other promoters who usually put on festivals that weekend feel about the new kid on the block? Not sure they would be that worried about losing punters to each other (aside from the two in Germany) but would imagine there's some genuine concern about the scrap that will undoubtedly ensue to book bands.

The line up looks good so far, I'm definitely going if I can get the time off work! I wouldn't normally bother because I'm already going to Rock am Ring but I'm absolutely desperate to see Nine Inch Nails having not seen them before they went on hiatus. It's definitely worth another trip to Germany this summer.

NIN at Rock Werchter 2009 is one of my favorites shows ever, I can't wait to see them again. Trent Reznor is one of the best musicians around in my opinion.

I bought my Rock'n'heim ticket yesterday and booked a hotel....need to book a flight asap :)

The Prodigy are playing a show in England on August 24th, a possibility for Rock'n'heim?

I think I might camp then! There's tickets that you can buy that give you access to showers and electricity... Did you just buy a normal ticket?

I guess we might get a lot of bands that will be playing at Reading and Leeds festival, they make a big announcement on the 11th of March so that might give us a decent idea on who else is playing?

I'm too old for camping, haha :P

You can skip the breakfast and then it's 85 euros per night...that's what I did as we never wake up until noon :P I NEED to sleep in a nice bed, take a shower and a shit in a nice clean toilet. It's hard work to drink beer all day and rock out hard, I need time to recharge my batteries at night/morning :P

Hopefully we'll get another Rock'n'heim announcement around the same time as R&L :)

I'm 34...so I need my rest time :P Will be flying in to Stuttgart from Iceland on the Thursday morning and back home on Tuesday. Living in Iceland kind of gives you only one traveling option as I'm not a very strong swimmer :P My girlfriend will come with me to Rock Werchter in July but not to Rock'n'heim, that will be a guys trip...wich means lots of beer and partying :D

I love iceland.

went to airwaves last year and did a bit of driving as well after being there 3 years ago and going from akureyri to reykjavik via the east coast and vik and so on.

thinking about going again htis year. the world should take an example in iceland...everything would be better.

any jobs available :)?

but now back to topic sorry:

i agree, i think it'll be interesting to see the lineup develop with all the other festivals going on at the same time. you also have to account for "rock im pott" which is a one day festival in the Ruhr area in Germany (mid-west, near to the dutch border). they have 6 bands playing in a football stadium (schalke 04) that are all playing rock n heim, so its kind of like a sister festival.

volbeat might actually be a headliner, you may be right there, guess its just a personal thing within in me that doesn't get that they're actually quite big.

and hey I'm closing in on the 30 as well and had a hotel for one night last year during rock a field in luxembourg...was very nice :) but camping will always be preferred, it's just part of the festival experience :), but who knows, things might change in the next couple of years

Bought my ticket! Can't wait, I've been listening to NIN all week. Has anyone else gone for the preferred camping option? I'm unsure what the benefits of it are but went for it anyway. Also, you get a 20 refund if you're going to Rock am Ring! Bargain.

I know, read it as well a few days ago, amazing!

Their will be lots left. Germans are a bit sceptical towards new stuff, especially festivals, so it probably won't sell out this year. Furthermore, the organiser always announces when there aren't many tix left, they do so for rock am ring and rock im park.

  • 3 weeks later...
On the official web page is said that there will be total of 40 bands. This is not a lot having in mind that it is 3 day festival with multiple stages (in the press release is said that the switching between stages will be easy which means that there will be at least 2).
If there are indeed 2 stages this makes around 6 bands a stage a day which will allow for day bands to play 60 min (not 40 or 45 as in some other festivals) which is very good.
I'm really interested on which the final headliners will be... SOAD are definitely closing the Saturday with The D and Deftones before them.
Probably second headliner are the Artze and I hope they play on the 16th (Artze are playing Highfield festival on the same dates so we will see how the'll arrange the dates). Volbeat are also playing on Friday or Saturday as they have another show for the Sunday. This will still leaves place for NIN to close the fest on Sunday... I would really like to see them headline...
