Its all about sacrifices for me, I go without on certain things so I can money put away through the year.

Then its not so much money but time of from

work and the wife.

I usually do about 3 fests a year. I just pay for them in different months and make sure I have my spending sorted well in advance.

Best festival is Reading, the one I want to go to is Bestival.

My mate who lives in Australia just rang me with Metallica playing one in the background, lucky twat, I'm at work and he's watching metallic pissed at soundwave.

Think I might have to go visit him next march and go myself!

Ultimatly one day i want to visit Tomorrowland.... but on a more local level im hoping to visit Bestival and Glastonbury in the next two years

I've done Reading, Download, Soni, Latitude, Werchter, a couple of smaller ones (Truck being a couple of years), a load of 1-dayers and a couple of ATPs. Bestival's comfortably the best I've touched.

I wrote this in another thread, but to me, the greatest threat to R&L's demographic and first timers is Bestival.

The thing which R&L greatly lacks is decent late night entertainment, not Propaganda style, but Bestival and Boomtown esque.

I think Glastonbury is too stereotyped for first timers, but Bestival has developed a reputation as a young person festival and the late night stuff is the key.

I really wouldn't be surprised to see that side of things develop at R&L as its a major weakness.

Truck was good! Really nice atmosphere, good bands, decent location. I didn't camp and just stayed at a mates so can't really comment on the camping experience, but a nice smaller one and I'd definitely recommend it if you like the lineup.

The site is magical. The atmosphere is fantastic, there's a great range of everything. There's probably more going on at 3am at Bestival than there is at 9pm at Reading.

Latitude's pretty good as well, but it just didn't feel as nice to me. I'd definitely go to it again if the lineup were good, but I'd go to Bestival again by myself, and only need a smallish selection of bands to feel it was worth it.

I think the worst festival I have been to is Download last year. The weather didnt help at all, the campsite was miles away from the arena and before I went everyone told me that "Download has the best fans, no dickheads like a Leeds." It was full of dickheads!

2011 was completely different. The mass amount of people in 2012 also attracted the mass amount of dickeheads it seems.

I think social media has helped persuade plenty of my friends not to bother with Reading anymore in favour for Bestival. Just a quick browse through some of my pics & its evident its a better festival & better value for money once you get there. They are still have a payment plan available to cash strapped students too.

Agree with this. Was still a good time mind, but the organisation was poor, the walk was so long (and boring) as to be annoying, and the atmosphere was only average.

Best: Sonisphere - Most friendly and fun festival I have been to, great atmosphere and everyone that was there, was there for the music (the same can't be said for R/L)

Want to go to: Rock in Rio or Bestival.
