What does alarm me is how festivals are now swamped with acts singing along to backing tracks and calling it a "live performance" - I understand the Big Weekend is aimed at a certain demographic (obviously the Radio 1 listener, and 20 years ago the TOTP watcher) but it wouldn't have been seen probably even 10 years ago.

When I started going to festivals the only dance acts were live, and even when Mel C played in 99 she had a live band.

Has changed a lot....

Not all people had a backing track. Laura Mvula had an impressive band with a harp and everything, and TDCC sounded pretty live. That's all I really saw. The Saturday's and Ellie Goulding had backing tracks though so I see your point there
