Yellow_Fellow
The point is that with merch being such a rich revenue stream for artists (which it is) it's pretty shitty to not just save up a little bit and get real shit, instead of funding a black market
The Placid Casual
Not everyone can save up to buy merch, a lot can only just afford to buy the ticket to see the band
Gucci Piggy
Yeah I wanted merch at QOTSA and Sabbath, but couldn't afford it.

The Placid Casual
I saw Neutral Milk Hotel last night and I didn't buy merch. I'm such a fucking scrounger
lightning1000
If you want something, pay for it. If you can't afford it, then you can't have it. It's pretty simple. People can convince themselves all they want that it's justifiable, but it isn't.
Com Truise
Good for you, but I'll continue listening to music free of charge and feeling no guilt about it anyway

dentalplan
Counterfeit t-shirts look fucking shit anyway. That's enough of a deterrent.
The Placid Casual
So don't make merch more expensive by funding the opposing, illegal market. Is this really so hard to understand?

The Placid Casual
I don't understand your argument, no one has said that they've recently bought counterfeit merchendise

Gucci Piggy
Yeah no one's saying we're gonna buy from people outside the gigs, just that we can't afford to buy merch. Yellow's post kinda did read like "Save up and buy a t-shirt while you're at the gig or you're not supporting the artist". Obviously that's not what he meant, but still, no one's saying they're gonna buy counterfeit merch. Edit: I've just re-read, it didn't really read like that at all. foolee
I personally believe in buying CD's, merch and gig tickets all officially and feel better for it and like that feeling of having something like a CD to show for it and not just on my computer or iPod. I think that's part of what festivals and the music industry isn't in a great way because people get round it.just my opinion though and i feel better for what i do, especially supporting smaller bands
