Recommended acts

Guest WHO ARE YOU?

Recommended Posts

As posted before this is my first time at rockness and I was wondering if anyone could recommend any acts to see.

At T there are a lot more mainstream acts that i would go and see (eg. Stereophonics, calvin harris) but rockness its not as clear cut for myself. Heard a lot of people raving about the line up however so any recommendations on acts not to miss would be great.

Thanks.

Above & Beyond definitely worth going to see if you like trance. Would be daft not to go see Madeon as well but I will be surprised if you haven't heard of him seems to be everywhere.

Out of the smaller acts I personally would recommend Redlight, Mat Zo and Jackmaster. But really the main thing to do would be to go down to the Afterburner or the Sub Club tent any time between 12:30 - 3AM, that's the best part of the festival that too many people miss out.

I agree Skream is absolutely magnificent! Madeon is a 100% MUST SEE his energy, mixing and setlist has such distinct style its a must see and not like the majority of the fist pumping head banging electro-house acts kicking about recently. i saw Madeon at the arches and was blown away by his set.

catch what to expect here -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cniaNbk_20s

Most folk can't stand him but if you're into a performance in which the crowd has loads of energy i'd recommend example although i can see clashes there.

finally! I totally reccomend that you don't miss Jaguar Skills, his set is a whole lot of fun and plays loads of what people know so will get a really good crowd reaction..

Lineup for me is pretty solid across the board.

futureheads (seen about 10 times and will still go and watch, hard to bear is one of my favourite songs ever)

Alabama 3 (same, just great live)

As for djs I'd watch Julio Bashmore (killed bugged out) Carl Craig, bookashade, len faki, nic fanciulli, pan pot, gary beck.

and if you think frankie boyle is offensive don't watch rev obediah steppenwolf the third (he writes a few of frankies jokes)

From the last few years the acts i have most looked forward to seeing have been a bit of a letdown, its the random ones i didn't expect to be that good that have blown me away - so don't go in with too many expectations and just enjoy the journey.

Also - without saying what your general likes are how can anyone help with recommendations. Me personally i go more for the bands than the DJs, Comedy lineup looking pretty good this year - Jim Jefferies is excellent live, Daniel Sloss was superb last year.

I'd recommend everyone seeing Alex Metric. Great DJ, full of disco and electro-house sorta vibes. Karma Kid is another one I'd go and see if you're looking to get your Sunday off to a bit of a flyer.

EDIT: Seems as though Karma Kid's been taken off the poster.
