Actually I still think it could potentially be defamatory . The general test set out in Sim v Stretch is that the statement must tend to lower the claimant's standing or reputation: people would tend to think less of the claimant because of what has been said about him. It is arguable here. There doesn't have to be an economic interest.

There is a very fine line between abuse and defamation, as is seen in Berkoff v Burchill.

If we look at the upper level pattern for each June from 2007-12, we see a recurring theme of strong heights across the Arctic (-ve AO) and Greenland. You can see this in the animation below.

But this June, up to the 10th at least, we're seeing lower heights across the Arctic (+ve AO) and Greenland, a complete shift from the pattern of recent years.

This obviously doesn't guarantee a good summer, but should certainly provide some encouragement and reason not to write off the next 12 weeks. The UK came close to a long summery/late spring spell just recently, but it seems Ireland managed to nick it!

I know if you haven't had much in the way of good weather in recent weeks, it can be easy to slip into the mindset that we're just going to follow the pattern of recent summers. But looking at the data, it doesn't appear to be the case so far.

There's reason to hope for something better at leastsmile.png

Something positive from the Netweather forum courtesy of 'BornFromTheVoid' to fill the gap between now and JACKONE the nerd's (only joking, don't sue me) next post.

My accuweather 2 week forecast up to the Thursday for pilton is showing sun and occasional shower for tue and wed with highs of 16, but interestingly Thursday shows maximum temps of 26 with a chance of t storms.. Barmy. I will keep eye on it daily see how it goes

We've had rain in North Somerset last couple days with quite a bit of surface water on the roads but it's mixed with periods of sunshine and quite a strong brezze. Therefore the ground is still pretty much bone dry and you'd not even know it'd rained if you weren't local.

Even if it does rain during the festival, it won't be the mess of 2011 because most of its going to wash straight the top.. guess it might flood the odd area though!

Yes we're close, very close now but I still think it's early days to be making statements like that. One or two full days of torrential rain before the Wednesday or worse still with punters onsite on or after the Wednesday can make that place one hell of a mess for the whole fest.
