We've had rain in North Somerset last couple days with quite a bit of surface water on the roads but it's mixed with periods of sunshine and quite a strong brezze. Therefore the ground is still pretty much bone dry and you'd not even know it'd rained if you weren't local.

Even if it does rain during the festival, it won't be the mess of 2011 because most of its going to wash straight the top.. guess it might flood the odd area though!

There is no way to predict the weather 2 weeks in advance so accurately but based upon previous years this year very much looks like a 2009 year. Cloudy but warm when the sun comes out with short sharp bursts of rain that cause a temporary quagmire.

Basically a cop-out prediction of "changeable" haha

I wouldn't worry about a bit of rain this weekend. The Netweather charts are currently looking pretty good for the actual week of the festival.

At this stage I'd say we're looking at a mainly dry festival with average temperatures. On the Glasto Weather Watch scale, that's somewhere between 'Nice and cloudy' and 'Good time sunshine'. :)

I am trying not to get too depressed at all these negative forecasts at the moment and though i know things could change in two weeks it's looking like it's not going to be a hot one anyway, hopefully it will pull up to a dry if not hot but warmish one with some showers if we have to have rain, not a grey damp affair. But i can't help but look at this when someone posts! I have

Met Office says changeable, but it may all change by then.. I just pick out the good bits.

UK Outlook for Tuesday 18 Jun 2013 to Thursday 27 Jun 2013:

On Tuesday there should be a fair amount of dry weather across Scotland, Northern Ireland, and also southern and western parts of the UK, with a few scattered showers. More unsettled weather elsewhere, with the chance of some heavy rain in northeastern England. Showery conditions then probably affecting many places on Wednesday. Breezy across the south and west, with daytime temperatures mostly near normal, possibly rather warm in the south/southeast. The generally changeable theme then continues through the rest of the period, with further showers or longer spells of rain, most prolonged in the northwest where it will be windy. Temperatures generally close to or a little below average. However, southern and eastern parts probably seeing some lengthier drier and brighter conditions later on, with temperatures a little above average.

UK Outlook for Friday 28 Jun 2013 to Friday 12 Jul 2013:

Indications currently show that the weather is likely to stay rather changeable through the end of June and first part of July, with westerly winds allowing weather systems to push in from the Atlantic, bringing spells of rain at times. Conditions will generally be more unsettled towards the northwest of the UK, with the best of the drier and brighter periods in the south and east. Temperatures are likely to be a little below average for the time of year, especially in western parts, whereas rainfall amounts look to be close to average in most places.

I am not sure what 'average rainfall' even is anymore?!? but gut feeling from a regular weather checker is that it is going to be a mixed bag with some lovely sunshine at times!!

Acciording to the Netweather thread.

A little hope for you lot from the Met Office this morning;

"UKMO favours slightly higher prob of drier/warmer later June based on MOGREPS, NCEP & JMA consensus. We'll see!"

Here's a little fantasy run from GFS 06Hz (ie 6 am this morning, Friday) with some rather nice High Pressure ridging in Glastonbury week.

Apply caution cream though, and don't get unrealisticly hopeful (see also my comment just below Frosty's post).

<still does little dance!>

Edit : the above link is showing a different version of the same run shown in Glastonlocal's post ...

Oh I completely agree, and we'll only get near to really knowing well into/towards the end of next week. It's all about what happens to the models over coming days.

My default hope, short of mega warm HP and wall to sunshine as likely in the above GFS 06Hz, would be simply a N/S divide, or at least a NW/SE one far North enough to keep Pilton within the 'SE' sector. In other words, Scotland and Northern Ireland, can you both please do us a favour and have a wet late June and draw up any wet weather and Low Pressure away from the festival!
