mrtourette
I thought last year was great, got really lucky with the headliners and managed to find a lot of stuff scattered throughout the stages that I enjoyed. One of the best years I've had at Reading musically.

mrtourette
Yeah aside from the headliners the main stage was pretty shitty, a lot of gems in the tents though.

the wonderwhy
I thought the Sunday main was pretty strong, and the Saturday was alright. The NME was the place to be though
Spud001
Yeah NME was strongest last year. I mean they got Green Day to open the tent and now they are headlining this year. The FR crystal ball works again, who'd have guessed they would make such a move up the line up?!?!?!
VCK
The Foos day was strong actually, not one band looked out of place on there. Except The Gaslight Anthem who should have been higher.

Poppington
I thought the Friday last year was appalling, Cure, Bombay, Hives and Graham Coxon were the only acts i wanted to see.
kev1664
Below Kaiser Chiefs? But yeah, Enter Shikari were too low.
Dead throne
The kaisers are a great festival band, they pulled of a quality set, just as good as their sub headline slot in 2009. Yeah they've lost a bit of their popularity but the still have the material to pull of big slots. Bullet I can only see going one higher or NME headliner after their latest album. They would need another solid album to take them on to the realms of sub/headline (at R&L) I can see them topping download within 4 year, even though they are sub this year. thetime
What makes a good day at a festival in peoples eyes? How many do you have to want to see?
LEMON_WOLF
I can see why people don't like the lineup this year. Green Day have lost a lot of momentum from Uno, Dos, Tre, plus they're playing the Emirates anyway for people who really want to see them. Eminem has not done anything decent in years, can't really rap well live, will bring a lot of idiots to the festival. Though Biffy have released a reasonably popular double album they do play festivals a lot and a fair number of people will of seen them before, plus loads of people will of gone to the arena tour if they wanted to see them that badly. Chase & Status are pretty boring as far as dance acts go, plus with a three day dance stage it seems kind of stupid filling the main stage with it. Also most of Friday main has just been taken from 2011. Don't even get me started on NME...though Tame Impala and Phoenix are quite nice additions. Tomahawk too is an interesting booking. Anyway like 2011 I'm gonna wait on Lockup before judging properly
mrtourette
I guess it differs from person to person, and it isn't just based on how many you want to see but whether they are spaced out or nor, whether they're any good and also what you see that you weren't planning on. What looks like a good day prior can turn out to be crappy and vice versa.
Gingo
In comparisons with all the main festivals in the UK this year I think R/L has one of the best sets of headliners Eminem is a rare act that people will pay a lot of money to see and will draw in a big crowd, Biffy are on fire at the moment and Green Day, while probably being the weakest of the 3, which is saying something, have a great back catalogue and will put on an excellent show plus very rarely play festivals. Compare that to V and TITP, Beyonce/Kings of Leon and Mumfords/Rihanna/Killers and it shits all over them Even a better set than Glasto apart from the Stones IOW are decent but the Stone Roses have been everywhere recently and the main draw there for me would be Bon Jovi The only big fest, for me personally, that has a better set of headliners is Download
