Yeah, I think 2007 was the year I had to charge the exit gate in my car as it was so muddy people were becoming stranded in there - basically aimed it as best I could between the concrete fence posts and even whilst still slipping sideways, charged it. Just missed removing one side of the car like a can being opened.

2005 I was up in Tom's Field working for Oxfam. Saw the yellow flashes off in the distance (yellow because of the exceptional humidity and haze on the Thurs evening). Said to a neighbour that I reckoned we were in for a show and a flood. Unfortunately turned out to be spot on. Woke in a maelstrom of wind and rain, and honestly though it would destroy the site such was the fury of it. Lasted into the morning as well and even around 6-7am is was still dark such was the cloud cover. It knocked out power to some areas of the site. Ripped one of the circus tents down the middle, flooded West Pennards and parts of Babylon. I think the first act was cancelled on the Pyramid due to power shorting from the wet (the feed line from mixing desk to stage was under water). Still, site crew all got it together and by Sunday it was dry again!

Massive respect to all of you who endured 2007 and still keep going back!

I think it was the first one I watched on TV and thought I have to be there (even with the mud and water) .. got hooked ever since! Not sure if it would have been the same if I WAS there in 2007 though!

Yes, getting out of the car park in 2007 was terrible. Everyone was stuck. We got back to the car at 9am and out of the car park at 8pm. What a mess it was. Its the first time I had ever parked in the East side car parks. I always stick to the west now although I am not sure if they were any better at the time?

2005 was better as everyone says because all the rain came down at once. So even though there was a lot of flooding, the sun came out afterwards and it was hot and sunny for the rest of the weekend.

I remember legging it back from the Small World tent at about 2am just as it was starting to rain. The storm was unbelievable! being in a tent with the loudest thunder I've ever heard was something I won't forget. I had pitched my tent miles away, on a slope, so I was fine.

Trudged over to the Other Stage to get some wellies and it was like a refuge station. Oxfam lorry full of wellies and about 300 people in the queue. As I got towards the front they were shouting out, "No more size 10" then "no size 9"...... ended up wearing a pair of size 7 wellies (3 sizes too small) for 3 days! I saw girls walking around in wellies that weren't high enough and the water was just pouring over the top.

2007 was pain! Every time I left my tent it started raining. I realised on the Sunday that I hadn't sat down anywhere for 4 days and was seriously pissed off with the whole thing. Ended up leaving after MSP and got back to Bristol, with a curry, before the headliners started.

Haven't been back since until this year......

I remember 2005 well too.

After attending my 1st festival in 2003 and managing to eventaully get tickets in 2004 we really struggled in 2005 and so my wife (fiancee at the time) got jobs litter picking. We were camped up in Tom's field and I just rememver hearing the huge cracks and claps in the early hours followed by torrential downpour and the fact that it seemed to be looping round and coming back over the valley time and time again.

I also remember quickly diving out to tighten the guys on tent (which considering it was only a cheapo Argos one stood up very well) and getting back into tent my wife mumbling do you need a hand before falling back asleep again and sleeping through the whole thing. I then thought darn it I need the loo so had to run in torrential rain to the loo and back.

Thankfully as our tent was up in Tom's field and on a slope the damage wasn't too bad to our tent- though the staff canteen tent had a big old river running through it. We also weren't on shift until the afternoon so could stay in our tent until it all calmed down.

Having a walk round site was unbelieveable seeing the carnage- especially in Pennards and we both said that if we hadn't got jobs and got tickets we'd more than likely have been camped where the major flooding was there.

The worst part for me was the fact that the rest of the weekend was sunny but as there was still a decent amount of mud/water on site wellies were needed which meant for very sweaty feet

My tent got flooded in 05. We camped in Row Mead and the drainage ditch that runs down next to the bushes got blocked with debris in the storm. I remember on my airbed in the tent and put my hand on the groundsheet and it just sunk. Opened up the tent to find water running through it. It then got really bad and a river of water was hitting my mate's side about 3 feet deep and running through the tent. We got out and the river knocked two tents down in front of ours. We just stood in the rain watching and all I had dry at the end of it was my sleeping bag that was floating on top of my air bed. People were coming up taking photos of our tent, a photogrpaher came up too but I've never seen the photo online anywhere. Eventually a JCB cleared the blockage in the ditch and the river of water went almost straight away but everything was soaked and covered in mud.

We stayed, got dry and lasted until late Sunday afternoon, I'd had enough by then though, Our tent was full of mud.

2007 was just grim throughout really. Like Russy said I remember a bit of sun during SFA and that was about it. From Sunday evening until we got home on Monday afternoon it didn't stop lashing with rain. I think the Sunday night was the worst I've ever felt being there and could easily have left early again.
