Spiders don't come in out of the cold at the end of summer. House spiders and garden spiders are different species, and neither can survive in the opposite environment. So for those of us who think we're putting our spiders 'back out', we're really evicting them from their homes, into a hostile environment where they won't do well.

The reason you tend to see lots of them now, is because it's their mating season, and the males are venturing out of their hidey holes to look for a mate. they really live in nooks and crannies in the house.

To prove this, I just watched a spider wander around and return to its hiding place in between my wall and the window frame, a tiny gap that you'd never think even a small spider could get into.

I heard that it can kill your tissue in your knob too, and I also read some people have died from bites from these bastards?

edited to add, just checked Wikipedia and it appears that my points above are true. it is one of the most venomous spiders on the planet.

whilst on a wildlife tip, I found out the other week, that whilst many many butterflies have beautiful colourful markings, loads and loads of their designs are evolved to look like the head of a snake to ward off predators.

I didnt believe it, but if you google image search "butterfly snake" you will see for yourself.

its amazing

Which in turn led me to find out about the Brazillian wandering spider - Phoneutria nigriventer

Apparently, bloke's who get bitten by it get an erection that can last for hours. It doesn't have to bite you on your pecker for this to happen either. Not sure where that leaves us but am going to leave it there.

they are more watery, and they do spoil quicker than the other two, green being the most hardy, but its really true, I didnt believe it as I said, it seems that we must associate the colours with suiting particular cuisines better, green is usually chinese food, italian and spanish tend to use red and yellow, but really either colour would suit any cuisine from a taste perspective.

and re the post above - fuck spiders. spidery c**ts.
