On the subject of taste perception I'll just leave this here. It turns out that if you colour identical batches of jelly, people taste different flavours, despite them all being identical. Really interesting:

Did you know it is impossible to tell the difference between red, green and yellow peppers if you have your eyes closed when someone feeds you it? I didn't believe it until I tried it.

I think it's almost as difficult with crisps. We tried a 'blind tasting' of a range of crisps - smokey bacon, salt and vinegar, chicken and even cheese and onion - and no one could be sure which was which. They all just taste of salt.

Yes, I hadn't seen the actual clip before, and I did feel as if I was learning something new. I had to remind myself that I already knew this, but it's such a powerful and compelling explanation, and analysis of where the concept originated.

And I still can't embed videos, I'm not very bright, I know. I think I might be copying the wrong thing to start with. Is it just click share and then the whole string?

On youtube, click "share" below the video, copy that link, its usually youtu.be something, then just paste it into your post without any tags, should work fine. thats how I did the one above.

I found a recipe for Guinness chocolate ice cream. It does make you want to move to Atlanta though

Hopefully, they'll get more successful, and able to export to the UK eventually, they seem to be looking to open retail outlets in the US. Fingers crossed, I'd buy, they all sound yummy!

You could always make your own. The nicest ice cream I ever tasted was home made. That said, I wouldn't know where to start on the making it front. I may look it up though as a real ale ice cream sounds fab.

Here's one I learnt today. The first electronic london tube trains didn't have windows, because obviously there's nothing to see when you're underground.
