grumpyhack
The law isn’t really that you can’t pay with more than that though. It’s like the Scottish notes thing, legal tender doesn’t mean someone has to take it. It’s only in certain situations they do. In shops you never get anywhere near legal tender. I could start a shop tomorrow that only accepts Euros, or chickens or anything I liked (that was legal), and no one could do anything to make me take anything else. Legal tender is only effective when you have built up a debt e.g. in a restaurant. Other than that it’s up to the person selling to set the payment methods they accept. TalkShow Bob
So what would be your preferred method of payment in your shop TSB?
Guest
That makes sense, it's the protective behaviour that would need to change. they're fast little blighters as well - for some reason I used to associate them with tortoises and thought they moved really slowly, until one shot past me when I was walking home one night. And they're really noisy when they're mating, too!
Yoghurt on a Stick
I often (well not that often..!) wonder why crabs and lobsters haven't worked out that they shouldn't go in those lobster and crab pots, as they don't come out again. You'd think they'd have worked out a way to communicate to the others not to do it....
feral chile
I've found a foolproof way of dieting. Make it a rule to yourself that you have to eat up those unappetizing leftovers for each meal until they're all used.

t8yman
Presumably crabs and lobsters aren't 'pack' animals and have a largish area to themselves, so there are no other crabs or lobsters around them, to communicate too. Well not in the immediate vacinity. They may also fight over territory too so wouldn't be inclined to communicate with others about the danger. Of course it could be the shame of getting caught that keeps them tight lipped. That is until they go in the pot. Once the gas is turned up they're soon squealing like fuck - 'oh, help me, help me, it's getting frightfully hot in here'.

Yoghurt on a Stick
most animals are just eating and reproducing and survival machines, they don't have a consciousness akin to how we view the world. Besides, its hard to talk under water.
bunique
Found at at my grandad's funeral today that we have a murderer in the family tree. A relative joined the British army in WWI, got into a row with a fellow soldier and shot him. As punishment he was sent to the front line (this has since been embellished to claim he was sent over the top with his hands tied) but he survived the war and returned home. Also found out a lot about my grandad's charitable deeds (especially in the travelling community) which has been interesting given he fell out with every single member of the family at some point or another and had the sharpest tongue I've ever had the misfortune to cross... zero000
Today I learned that Joni Mitchell isn't dead. I'd always assumed she'd snuffed it of an overdose in the 70s.

viberunner
If you get a deck of cards and thoroughly shuffle, you will end up with an almost certainly unique list of cards. By this I mean it is massively improbable any deck ever shuffled at the hand of man will have ever had exactly the same list of cards, and it is massively improbable any deck ever will again within humanity's timeframe.
