A bit late to post on this subject as I've only just seen it, but yes I tip my hat to all those brave men and women. Many, many people laid down their lives so that we could live in this democracy (such as it is). It's hard to get your head around that act of selflessness nowadays.

I still find it absolutly amazing that they managed to get such a fleet together, all those soilders together without the Germans finding out... never mind conviincg them that they Normandy landings were a mere diversion. Absolutly pheneomial stuff.

They have been some really excellent tv programs about D Day this week, with some really fantasic individual stories.

Given the level of sacrifiece made my so many, not so long ago you would think that the world we lived in today would be a little more harmounious.
