jonsiuk
Just had the email, was planning on going back to the car to get the rest of my beer anyway.
scaryclaireyfairy
dunno about contraband, that's something you're gonna do or not do anyway, but i'd say it's more likely to make people take more spirits than beer/cider for ease of carrying which in terms of drunkeness is (imo) worse. Thrash D Garbage
Its bullshit, ill be taking mine on my trolley as always. They have absolutely no right whatsoever to confiscate beer off me! I suspect like others have said its designed to scare people into bringing less alcohol with them. Or just a mistake on the email
glasto-worker
a few years ago - had to be after the Licensing Act 2003 came into force I did mention on this board that if GFL wanted to they could ban alcohol completely and many said it would never happen that e-mail is the first step and is going to cause chaos. Not claiming it will come in my lifetime but it now has to be on the cards. some festivals will not allow you out to pick up more drink so it can get a lot stricter
pedmills
This better not be as it sounds. I usually get dropped off, so cannot take multiple trips to/from a car. In previous years I have tried to carry beer and the walk to the camping fields has been excruciating. Using a trolley is a massive help. mail1234
They're not going to actually enforce this guys i'd imagine. They probably have to prove to the police that they're cracking down on underage/irresponsible drinking and "we sent an email about it to every ticket holder" is probably quite a good way to show this, but it wont be enforced. They're not stupid enough (I hope) to try to take alcohol from the god knows how many (probably into the tens of thousands) that would fail these rules, and they know that for 5 days people need to bring in more than they can carry. There'd be chaos if they actually enforced it. As somebody else said, it just gives them a reason to take alcohol from the people they suspect will be selling it on inside which is fair enough. Sack truck
first Glastonbury - just bought a sack truck as it looks a trek. Will I have to offload the booze (in two coolbags), carry them through then put them back on? Seems daft to me
fogofogo
4. Any Alcohol which is brought to the gates using a wheeled device will not be allowed in, and may be confiscated what if you're in a wheelchair?
andymk
Going to struggle carrying the cans, usually do 2 trips and only a couple of people head out to collect everyones in a garden trolly. We'll all have to go if we have to carry them through. Will probably see how this is being enforced on the first run before we decide what to do Edited June 13, 2013 by andymk

Memory Man
looks like trolley to near the gates, get it in a position to carry / in the backpack, and reassemble on the other side job. I look forward to any clarification efestivals can get on this, it is a big issue for many of us!

That rule has been in place specifically to stop people bring in beer to sell.

pie_and_a_pint
This 'rule' (if of course it is enforced, which I sincerely doubt) will just mean I'll swap what is carried where - booze in the rucksack, camping kit on the trolley. das beaut
I havent had no email. I think they've just released this information as a scare tactic because it was ridiculous queuing at Gate D in 2011. Less trolleys will mean quicker entry

I am taking my 3x mates stash (who are staying in a tent next to the c/v) as well as mine and the 2 lads I am sharing with. All in all we will have around 240 cans on boards. Am I gonna get hassled ?!?!?
