Football 2013-2014

I suspect however that if Carragher and Hypia had swapped performance you would still be talking about great Carragher leadership because that was the romantic view of the game that fit the narrative. I would argue if Carragher and Gerrard were going to use this "leadership" to drag liverpool back in the game, it was a bit strange waiting untill the score was 3-0. Note I dont think leadership came into that game, I think Milan paniced and blew it, while Hamman steadied the ship. I think history has been rewritten to suit the storyline that people want

I dont remember anything outstanding about Beckham against Greece either, again I think the media like to fit what happens around the narrative they want. If Beckham has this leadership quality why has he never used it in big knockout games for England, the same could probably be said about Gerrard.

Not even in April and LFC snuffed out debate on whether they'll make Top 4. Implication being that Baconface's successor's inept performance not the sole basis for LFC progress... more to it than that.

What this hints at to me is LFC = story of the season irrespective of final places.

Story of the decade if they win title obv. Rodgers and staff have to get respect given the above. I think that cursed TV show is the basis for my lack of confidence in him. If something similar was done at Castle Greyskull nowadays that'd make for compelling viewing however.

The dirty bastard...

I think he has to go down as one of United's worse ever signings... Well done Moyes :)

Fair play to United fans. The reaction on Twitter seems to be offering him fuck all support. Looks like everyone has learnt from Liverpools mistake and won't defend twats :)

While I have my doubts that moyes is the man to turn man utd around, this plane stunt is stupid. One crap season in 20 years and they throw their toys out of the pram, how do they think the rest of us manage! Also if they are going to the effort and expense surely the glazers would be a more suitable target. Moyes is trying his best and failing, the glazers are the ones taking the club for a ride.

Oh c'mon, don't take it so seriously. Laugh at Man Utd and their fans like the rest of us. Every last bit of it is great entertainment after all this time. :D

Enjoy it while you can, it might not last. ;)

The plane thing is pure sky generation, more money than sense football fans.. One of the many reasons recently that I'm completely losing interest in this "sport" I'm sure man U will turn it around soon though, the premier league need them to as its affecting their brand and foreign sales.

I reckon "John Terry own goal" has to be one of the funniest scoreboards in football.

Not really fussed who wins this evening, but hoping Arsenal turn up and make it a good game. If they win it'd give them a half-chance of staying in the title race, but tbh as long as Chelsea don't win I'll be happy.

Whatever people think about him, I think Pulis has done a great job. I looked at their squad at the beginning of the season and thought they didn't have a prayer. I hope arsenal win later as its the best result for the title race.

Question for the Scottish fans on here. I have read a few articles about rangers financial problems recently. I have also read that they still have the second highest wage budget in Scotland. Surely in the third tier of Scottish football there is an element of using a sledgehammer to crack a nut. Why not run at half the wage bill and just win the league by 10 points.

Why not indeed. A question that many folk have been asking. There isn't an answer yet. Just lording it over folk that they just won a league title against plumbers and school teachers.

The problem here is that they just don't learn from past mistakes. With a better manager, they probably could walk the leagues on a much smaller budget, but McCoist actually has a stake in Rangers. Which makes things... complicated. So he keeps banging on about spending. A couple of the players have actually come out and said "hang on... this team is good enough". Which it is.

I think the idea was to compete in the cups and to be fair to them this season, they've reached the Scottish Cup Semi Final. They are absolutely desperate for success on a big scale and if they win the cup, they'll feel it'll be all justified. Whereas the rest of us will be looking on thinking "well, you're just doing what you did before".

Honestly wouldn't be surprised if they were f**ked in another couple of years.
