thetime
Has anyone ever won 14 Premiership games in a row?
eFestivals
It was a dive but then again clattenberg got most of the big descisions wrong.Liverpool should of had a pen, city should of had 2, Suarez should of been of.it would help if you managed to join things up into a coherent theme. As you say, Clattenberg got some things wrong. You know, like giving Suarez a yellow in the first place, which gets to mean that he couldn't have been sent off.I can't see no-trip on Suarez, but neither can I see a trip. What camera phone footage have you been watching to see beyond all doubt that there was no-trip?If you strip everything away, if Liverpool win 14 league games on the bounce they deserve the league. I would imagine that's what it will take for them to win it, having Chelsea bang in between the champions league semi final might swing it in Liverpool's favour. The most points deserves the league, nowt more.I still can't see Liverpool winning it by going unbeaten, but I can see them perhaps winning it because Chelsea drop points somewhere (not necessarily at Anfield). ThomThomDrum
Its pretty amazing that Liverpool have won 10 on the bounce and they still have 2 teams breathing down their neck. Usually when you see a run like this at the top it results is some distance between the top placed team and the chasers. 3 teams who have lost only 5 and City with 6 losses is very impressive. Wooderson
So what's the same-season record for consecutive wins? 13?

strummer77
I think all 3 teams might drop points before the end. City have 6 games to play including Everton and Liverpool and Chelsea play each other. Long way to go yet. DomDom1984
There's absolutely no way to tell for sure that Suarez was tripped or not. So the ref made 100% the correct call, as if you're not sure, you just don't make a call.

The Nal
Suarez "dive" wasn't actually a dive. He got clipped by Demichelis alright. But he went down and did his patented "grab, roll, scream, hand in the air calling for a stretcher" thing.

DomDom1984
His patented? Really? Aye, there's dozens of players that pull that crap in England alone. Let alone going to Europe and finding more of them. Fair enough he's a cheating scumbag, but lets not act like rolling about holding your leg is some sort of Suarez exclusive. It's not even close to being the case. EDIT: Oh and subbing someone for it? I guess that's why you're not a manager. strummer77
He just seemed to let the occasion get to him a bit. He calmed down after that fall but beforehand seemed hell bent on trying to make a difference by any means necessary and played a lot worse because of it. Odd because apparently he's fine in real life, but when he sees red he turns. A bit like when he bit Ivanovic - that was after he had given away a penalty. Yesterday was the first time in a while and hope he can be a bit calmer for the run in. Edited April 14, 2014 by strummer77

DomDom1984
Well, without talking scales, absolutely every player gets involved in simulation. Most ex-pros even come out with stuff like "I did that back in the day." so I'm not going to get into a fuss over it, since referees and the associations clearly don't give a toss, so I don't see why I should. strummer77
Suarez doesn't even dive a lot more than other strikers. He's just rubbish at it. Laughably rubbish.
CHRLY
Question - if a player is genuinely clipped and they go down and roll around for ages can they still get booked for simulation?

luckysalt
I dont normally do the football thread much but I'd like to speak on whats happening with my beloved club Aston Villa. As you may or may not know straight Benteke got injured in training, Gabby was declared ill and Delph out with an injury. A source online since said that this was BS and what happened was Gordan Cowans former player and coach and now youth team coach had fallen out with Lambert and his backroom staff, his assistant manager Culverhouse and coach Karsa, what was said that Cowans was sick of Villa playing shit and tried to have imput and was also sick of players not getting a chance and the youth players not being uterlised. Apparently a fight broke out and it got very heated and Gabby and Delph backed Cowans and agreed with him. Then both players were suspended and fined for going against management and the fake illness and injury made up. All sounded a little far fetched but actually it isn't if you know the club and the individuals involved, im not saying I do personally but obviously I have heard many things over the years. Today just after midday, Aston Villa officially announced Culverhouse and Karsa have been indefinitely suspended facing an internal inquiry. Gordan Cowans has been promoted to Assistant Manager and Shay Given of all people to coach. Lambert remains as manager. The inside source has gotten plently of things correct so far, and this is just another example. The most interesting part is apparently a deal is in place for the sale of Aston Villa to an unknown source IF the club manage to stay in the premier league and Lambert will be leaving, and Klopp of Dortmund is the intended replacement and big investment will be made. Its all hearsay but we as fans can only hope its true, Villa have been stagnent for far too long, 4 season of nothing but barely staying up if we do this year. Obviously we aren't owed anything but it would be really awesome if this happens and we can finally become a force again. Here's hoping. I thought I'd just share this anyway.
