So "weak as piss" Wenger with his rudderless/leaderless side is in a cup final against Hull and more or less confirmed 4th.

It's a big failure compared to how they were flying early season, but mostly caused I'd say by some massive injuries to important players - yet again.

Their biggest loss has probably been Ramsey because he was such a monster for them, but there's been plenty of others with longer injuries. The combined effect has been to nibble away the advantage they had.

Norwhich have liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal to come. Very hard to get points from that.

Fulham have Spurs, Hull, Stoke and Crystal Palace,. Slightly easier fixtures, they may be able to get 3-6 points from that. I think considering Sunderland and Cardiff will struggle i think, and i suspect Fulham may be able to do it.

Fulham are currently 18th and need three points and for Norwhich not to win against Liverpool to be out of the relegation zone

Enrique's hardly played. Sturridge missed nine games - I think it was nine - around Christmas. Henderson about to miss three. Agger and sakho missed quite a few - both of whom start before toure. Johnson had a lengthy lay off at start of season.

Lucas was first team till he got injured. Suarez missed first five games.

Other than that they've had their first eleven every match.

So why didn't they go and buy some players to cover in January? Liverpool have had plenty of injuries this season, mainly to the defence. In January they went and got in a couple of defenders, Arsenal didn't do anything - yet again.

I'm guessing because there were no good-enough players available that would make a better team than what they already have.

Arsenal aren't the only team that tried to buy better in January and came away with nothing of much worth.

And then there's the teams who did buy what they thought was better - for mega-bucks too in some cases - and have seen no improvement. There's teams both within and outside of the top 4 who did that.

It's easy to say; it's hard to do.

Wenger's a bit more stubborn than most in taking a gamble - but even he did that in January by bringing in a crocked player.

Neil when you say conceding the most goals of any team this season what do you mean?

Spurs have conceded six more never mind teams at the bottom.

ahh, OK. I'm wrong then.

It's a comment I've heard or read a few times, but I've not actually checked the numbers.

I'm guessing, then, it's a statement that's being said around a particular context, but that context isn't always being said with the statement.

I read an inteeresting article last night about whether it would be "romantic" if liverpool won the league, and whether there's anything sane in the idea that they'll have won by "cheating" because they didn't have to play in Europe.

It's certainly easier to not have those extra games, but 'cheating'? Nah. They tried to be in Europe, and they failed. You don't cheat by failing.

Cheating is a stupid term, liverpool not playing in europe is a factor, but its one of many. Some clubs who are playing in europe have larger squads to accomodate.

yup - not playing in Europe is both an advantage and a disadvantage.

To pretend that the easy way to win the league is from 7th is a joke, as proven by all the other teams that have failed to do so in the Chumps era.
