Surely being an "international" depends on the relative standard of your teammates. He would be an international for wales but not spain. In the last few years the standard of the England squad has decreased so the bar is surely set lowew.

Being "an international" I'd say is different from being "international class". I'd say the latter implies a player can make an impact in tournaments, which wouldn't be true of lots of England's current crop.

Decent finishes from the Ameobis, and great balls from Ben Arfa, but worrying that we were 2nd best to a league 2 team for most of the game, even if it was largely a 2nd string.

At least we've scored goals and won a game this season now.

I agree Townsend should be better, I also think players should be judged on what they are in the present, not what they may (or not) be in the future. From what I have seen of Sterling, I don't see him as a "sure thing" like a Giggs, Rooney or Bale. As for international class, I suppose it depends how you define the term. I see both as being solid premiership players, not sure I see anything more.

Of course playing for certain teams increases your chance of playing for England. Someone like Adam Lalana would have played for England by now if he had put the same performances in for one of the top 4 or 5 sides Im not even sure its necesarrily the best clubs who get you into the national team quicker. I would say Liverpool, arsenal and man utd fans/ex players dominate the media who have a huge influence on a football manager, therefore a younger Liverpool player would probably get a chance before a man city or Chelsea player of similar ability.

If it happens, as it looks like it will, then surely one of Moses, Lukaku, or Ba will be available for transfer/loan?

aren't Liverpool trying to get Moses, and Newc Ba?

I don't think Lukaku will go out on loan again, after a great season for the baggies.

I really can't see Ba back at Newcastle.

He wanted to leave, what makes anyone think he wants to return? He doesn't really fit into the system Newcastle play, assuming Cisse is nailed on to start. Would Newcastle drop Cisse to play a loan signing? Newcastle are worse now than when Ba left.

Just don't see it happening.

Completely agree. Supposedly we've been making enquiries though which I'm hoping will fall as flat as most of our other transfer business so far.

Agreed, would stop the hoarding of players that goes on with a lot of the bigger teams. it would also like to see a ban to the practice where you loan a player out for a season and they cant play against you. If a player is loaned he should be able to play any game when fit and not suspended.
